Christmas in High Heels High Heels, Book 3.5 I Picked Up This Book Because:Kindle freebie + I wanted something short to read at workThe Characters: Maddie Springer: Jack Ramirez: The Story: This was super cute. I’m intrigued by the characters. I haven’t read anything in this series before but I want to now.Writing: GoodForward Motion: GreatOverall Interest: I like it Length of Reading Time: Short but sweet Re-read-ability: Nope The Random Thoughts:The Score Card:4 Stars

    2. I always love me some Maddie and Jack! I just have to chuckle at this short story. Maddie and Jack have always been my favorite characters and we get a short glimpse into their rather odd Christmas Eve. One unique and colorful character after another interrupts their romantic night alone and poor Maddie and Jack, they just want a night alone. Is that too much to ask for? Well of course it is if Gemma Halliday is writing you as a character in another laugh out loud story. I had to laugh at Mrs. R [...]

    3. So, my book club always picks something random for our December book that's holiday-related. Someone chose this short story (woot, we're all busy in December so short book=good choice).Ummm I'm not even sure if this qualifies as a short story. It was more like a scene from a book. There's no time or effort to connect with the characters or their lives. There's really nothing here.I think this really only will work for you if you read the rest of the series or have any idea of who the characters [...]

    4. Original review posted at A Date with a BookThis was a cute novella. A little short, but since I got it as a free download, it was fine. It’s Christmas Eve and Maddie and Jack are just trying to have their time together. There are visits from Marco, Mrs. Rosenblatt, and Dana. It’s a fun read for the holidays, especially if you already know about all the characters who are visiting. If you are able to get this as a free download and enjoy the little series, I would definitely recommend the qu [...]

    5. Maddie Springer loves to play detective even though she is a shoe designer, and it's not that she tries to get in trouble although homicide detective Jack Ramirez, now her boyfriend after a long chase (mostly by her) tells her to stay home and out of trouble. Now that they are "officially" a couple, all they want to do is spend the first Christmas Eve together – alone, but they have forgotten to take into consideration a cast of funny friends and family who don't want them to spend the holiday [...]

    6. This is a very short Christmas themed romance centered around Maddie and her first Christmas with her boyfriend. All they want is a little time alone, but it looks like that's a Christmas wish that will not come true. This is a super fast read, zany, cute and fun but just too short and the rest of the book was promo for other books and filler. Still, this would be a great story to read while on your coffee break. 3 stars!

    7. I'm really not a fan of short stories, so I was irritated when this one really turned out to be about 37% the actual story and the rest a preview of another book. The advertisement should NOT be longer than the "book" you paid for (even if it's only 99 cents).

    8. A cute short story for the holidays! I enjoyed reading about Maddie and RAmirez's first Christmas together. Looking forward to reading many more adventures with these two characters

    9. This is a one just because I feel cheated after buying it. Not that .99 is a big loss, but it literally was like 6 pages of textabout nothing.

    10. Very short, a little weird and kind of pointless. At least it came with the box set and I didn't pay extra for it.

    11. Synopsis: "Fashion designer turned amateur sleuth Maddie Springer can't wait to spend the holidays with her boyfriend, LAPD Detective Jack Ramirez. It's their first Christmas together, and Maddie wants it to be perfect. But between her zany family and wacky friends, Maddie's having a hard time finding alone time with her man. But come Christmas morning, this is one holiday she'll be sure to remember - naughty or nice!"My Review: I haven't been following this series but came across this book in m [...]

    12. A waste of time and 99 cents. This very short story (NOOK has it at 19 pages) does nothing in developing Maddie and Ramirez's relationship. It is just a series of recurring characters showing up to invite Maddie and Ramirez out for holiday partying and Maddie turning them down so she could spend their first real Christmas together. It was just annoying. Save the pennies and time and just skip to the next full length book.

    13. A very short story. No murder or anything just Maddie and Ramirez trying to have their first Christmas together. Between family and friends it seems almost impossible they can have some quiet couple time. Cute read.

    15. This short Christmas novella is about Maddie and Jack's first Christmas Eve actually spent together. Past years Jack has been called out on police business, but this year his chief is away and he promises Maddie an evening together. Somehow no one else got the memo, because it seems everyone has to stop by for one reason or another. But perhaps it is all worth it, because Christmas morning Santa proves they have been nice with a special gift under the tree. It is a cute story that shows friendsh [...]

    16. Very short story about Maddie and her boyfriend Detective Ramírez who just want a quiet Christmas Eve in, but get interrupted by repeated visits from people. Not much of a plot , but a quite realistic one all the same, as it's a situation many of us can relate to. The book did have me reading from beginning to end. Too short really , and the story could have been developed more, but good character development for the story length. Perfect for a quick Christmas read. Left me wanting to read more [...]

    17. This is a short story I read on my nook. This was written as part of the High Heels mystery series by Gemma Halliday. It was Christmas Eve with Maddie and Ramirez. My feeling is these short stories and novellas are just too short. They are part of a series usually, but if you miss them, you haven't really missed much to add to the series. A lot of authors are doing these now and the cost is usually anywhere from free to $1.99. When I opened this on my nook, it said it was 120 something pages and [...]

    18. I don't read a lot of short stories and novella, mainly because I often feel like the stories don't give me enough time to really get to know the characters enough to really bond with them. But because I am familiar with the series and the character in it, I thought this short story would work for me. Unfortunately the story has literally almost no plot. It's basically about how she is spending her first Christmas with her boyfriend, and how people (secondary characters from the series) keep sho [...]

    19. Christmas Love It's a gift for those who loves Maddie, Ramirez and their friends and family. Gemma Halliday brings back our favorite characters to some Christmas fun. It's a short story of love and bonding between Maddie and Ramirez. We also see all of our loving secondary characters in this short-story. If you enjoy the holiday's spirit, you will love this one!

    20. Maddie wants to spend Christmas with her LAPD Detective boyfriend Jack, for their first Christmas Eve alone together. Everytime Maddie turns around someone as at the door wanting something from Maddie and when all the guests have left and Maddie gets back to Jack she finds him fast asleep. The next morning the two find an envelope under the tree with tickets to Hawaii for a getaway for their first Christmas and they decide to skip the family Christmas dinner and go to Hawaii. It was a cute introdu [...]

    21. My first venture into the world created by the author and I found myself chuckling with delight with each phone call and each ring of poor Maddie's doorbell. Apparently her track record for a romantic evening with her cop boyfriend Jack is destined to remain a failed dream once more. However all is not lost thanks to an anonymous Santa who gifts the couple with a trip to Hawaii. I laughed more than once at this short look into Maddie's life and now need to read some of the full length stories on [...]

    22. Very, very short story about Maddie Springer and her boyfriend Det. Jack Ramirez who are trying to spend their first Christmas Eve together but keep getting interrupted by family and friends. Moral of the storyif you want to spend time with that special someone, unplug your phone and don't answer the knock on the door. I thought the author might be trying to introduce her characters to readers who were not familiar with her books and story line. I thought the story was cute despite its length an [...]

    23. Christmas in High Heels - High Heel Mystery Series #3.5 - (Jack and Maddie) sweet novella during the holidays, gift of trip from secret visitor.Fashion designer turned amateur sleuth Maddie Springer can't wait to spend the holidays with her boyfriend, LAPD Detective Jack Ramirez. 24. Great Christmas short story from Gemma Halliday!! Maddie and Ramirez are so excited to be having their first Christmas Eve together. Ramirez isn't going to be called in on a case and Maddie declines every single invite and call she gets. But as with all things Maddie, it doesn't all play out the way she wants. Gemma Halliday is such an awesome author. Though this story is very short (22 pages), it is jam packed with details. I have thoroughly enjoyed the every story in the High Heel Mystery seri [...]

    26. Okay for a (very) short xmas theme story. There's not a lot to it - girl tries to spend romantic first xmas eve with her boyfriend but finds they are constantly interrupted by visitors. That's pretty much it, apart from receiving a nice anonymous gift in the morning, but got to admit if that was me I'd be concerned about who left it and why they wanted me out of the house. (Cynical? Who me?). This is part of a series I haven't read, so I can't really comment too much as it is Very brief. I liter [...]

    27. A Fun Holiday MysteryChristmas in High Heels is a short holiday mystery story by Gemma Halliday. Even though this book was short, it didn't disappoint me. It was just as much fun to read as the other books in this series. I really like all the characters and enjoyed spending a little bit of time with them as they celebrated the holidays, only as Maddie, Jack, and the rest of the gang can. I will definitely recommend this book to others. I also highly recommend the other books in the High Heels M [...]

    28. I know it only cost 99 cents, but if I am paying for your work, I expect at least a LITTLE bit of substance. This entire story can be summed up like this, “Maddie wants to spend Christmas Eve snuggled up with Ramirez. They keep getting interrupted. The end.”I have enjoyed the short stories associated with a series in the past, but wow, I feel cheated on this one. I am glad that I did not go ahead and buy the Valentine’s story as I had considered. I won’t be purchasing that one. After this [...]

    29. Maddie and Jack Ramirez were spending their first official Christmas Eve together. All Maddie wanted was a quiet, romantic evening with Jack. Just as they were getting started, Maddie's Mom called. Then, there was a parade of visitors at their door. By the time Maddie closes the door on their last visitor Jack is sound asleep in front of the TV.This is a short novella yet it includes all the wonderful, quirky characters we have grown to love. Gemma Halliday always leaves your waiting impatiently [...]
