    1. I know, really silly cover, right? Absolutely no relationship to the novel, except that the heroine does have blonde hair.Harmon Bass is one of those "atypical" heroes, especially interesting since this was a 1990s novel, when there weren't too many of those floating around--and certainly not in western historical romances. Short, slight, unassuming: even Ransom leads us to believe the hero is someone else in the very first pages of the novel, then nicely turns that around until the reader is as [...]

    2. There’s nothing profound or deep about this shallow, formulaic romance. You might argue that I’ve given you all kinds of reasons to not bother, but not so fast. It’s the kind of light and breezy read you take on when you’re between mammoth reads or thoughtful reads that jerk your soul around and rearrange it. It’s nicely written, and it’s just kind of fun.
