    1. A billionaire ex hedge fund manager and patriot, Cris DeNiro, buys a private counter-terrorism consulting firm. He changes the name of the firm from Liberty Defense Contractors to The Watchman Agency. He installs his brother in law and formerly Commanding Officer of the Naval Special Warfare Center as the agency's President. Add a cabal of Iranian terrorists with ugly plans for the U.S. of A. and you have a great plot. I liked this one.Gerard is one of my friends. If you haven't tried him yet I [...]

    2. I enjoyed this book very much! It was very difficult to put down once I got started. As soon as I finished this book, I dove quickly into book 2 just to continue the story - it is equally as difficult to stop reading for any amount of time. Gerard's books are certainly up to par with the great fictional bestsellers that line my bookshelves.

    3. Title: The Watchman Of EphraimAuthor: Gerard Reviewed by Fran LewisAsh, cinders, smoke and fog filled the air, blinded the vision and burned the hands, faces and bodies of many as the two planes minutes apart crashed into the Twin Towers forever changing the skyline of our magnificent city and leaving in its wake a carnage that would forever be embedded in the mind, hearts and soul of every American. Air permeating with a foul and burnt smell that would remain as a lingering perfume that would h [...]

    4. The book begins on the morning of 9/11/01, and we follow Cris De Niro’s story through losing his wife, dealing with single fatherhood, and the ways in which the man attempts to save other families from having to deal with what he went through. In the beginning it started out a little slow for me. There was a lot of catching up to do, as far as De Niro and his relationships were concerned. Eventually, however, the book picked up the pace considerably. The incredibly wealthy De Niro funds the for [...]

    5. This day next month it will be exactly 10 years since the horrific act of terrorism that was 9/11 in New York city. I am sure that everyone can remember that fateful day as if it was yesterday, they will know exactly where they were when the biggest act of cowardice, deemed terrorism, was afforded on the west leading to the death of over 3000 innocent people. All for the selfish cause of the few. Their deaths will not be forgotten nor will the heroes that emerged from the aftermath. This is where [...]

I received a copy of this book free of charge in exchange for an honest review. My rating: 3.5/5Cris de Niro had everything. A beautiful wife, two young sons, with a third child on the way. 10. This is the first is a series of action adventure books about a group called The Watchman Of Ephraim based on a Bible verse that describes those who watch over the land. Cris De Niro was a high powered head of a major hedge fund until he lost his wife and unborn son in the attack on the Twin Towers on 9/11. It was after this event that he bought a group of experts together to create a super counter-terrorism agency.Their first encounter involves a planned nuke attack over Las Vegas. Iranians, Me [...]

    11. An excellent debut novel with all the potential to be a long series filled with action, adventure and yes, I'm sorry to say, a bit of romance thrown in there too! I really enjoyed getting to know the various characters in the novel and am looking forward to see how each person develops as well. A fast paced read that was a blast to go through. The story line is one I will not be surprised to see turned into a film at some point in time. Thanks Gerard for a good time!

    12. This was written by a friend of ours who lives here in Henderson. He was kind enough to share a copy of the book with us. I wish him lots of success!

    13. Looks interesting, thanks for the win!! I won this on the 10th anniversary of 9/11. I'll be looking for it in my mailbox!

    14. Don't BotherDon't waste your time. I don't k ow how there are five more of these books. This was, predictable, sexist and unoriginal. DeNiro, a man who embraces religion after his wife is killed in the towers, creates an antiterrorism unit to help protect the country. Every thought is in parenthesis and every woman is a beauty with brains that the big tough men are attracted to. Except for DeNiro who can't after 10 years bear to betray his wife's memory. I hate giving bad reviews, in fact I don' [...]

    15. I really enjoyed The Watchman of Ephraim, and with the tenth anniversary of 9/11 coming soon, this novel is certainly a testament to those who lost their lives in one of the most horrific terrorist acts to take place on American soil. The Watchman begins ten years earlier when Cris De Niro is in New York City to surprise his wife who is pregnant with their third child. Coming to the realization of how important his family is to him, he buys her flowers and is on his way to the 104th floor when t [...]

    16. Before I start this review, it's important to note, in the spirit of full disclosure, that I know and am friends with the author. Despite this fact, I promise you none of the claims made herein are in any way exaggerated. This was a great read.To be sure, there were some things that I didn't like so much. Mr. de Marigny makes no apologies for either his faith or his political orientation - and nor should he! However, as an extremely liberal cynical agnostic myself, some views expressed by the her [...]

    17. September 11, 2001 changed the lives of thousands of families forever, as well as a nation. Cris survives because a firefighter reminds him that he can't save his wife and unborn child, but he can save himself for their other two children. This billionaire then devotes his life to protecting his family and country from additional terrorist acts."The Watchman of Ephraim" by Gerard de Marigny [...]

    18. This is a debut novel that is written as if he has been a published author for a number of years. If you didn't know, you wouldn't be able to guess either. This is one of the best political suspense thrillers I have read in a while. The first couple of chapters are hard to read as someone that distinctly remembers 9/11 and knew people both in NYC and DC on the day of the attack. But after those intro chapters, which really are necessary to the story. The rest of the story takes place 10 years lat [...]

    20. "The Watchman of Ephraim" (Cris De Niro #1) by Gerard de MarignyWith today being the 13th Anniversary of 9/11, and having read the description of de Marigny's 1st book, "The Watchman of Ephraim", being based on his protagonist's actions & reactions to his own personal loss on 9/11, something inside of me told me I Had to read this book today. I actually started it yesterday, with intentions of reading the bulk of it, along with finishing it on this day, a Tragic reminder to Every American of [...]

    21. Gerard de Marigny carries his readers along in a religious thriller set around the decade-long fallout of the terror of 9/11. The Watchman of Ephraim examines the life of one man in particular, Cris De Niro, and the lives of all those close to him as they search for meaning in a world deprived of a loved one. De Niro, an extraordinarily wealthy man, finds a purpose and a direction for his overflowing passion for the wife and unborn child he lost in the first Tower. He puts all his financial reso [...]

    23. Being a long time fan of Tom Clancy and Vince Flynn, I was hesitant upon picking up a new series that I had only heard about via . I was worried that my bar was raised too high, and that I would only be disappointed when the hero didn't match up to the likes of Jack Ryan, John Clark, and Mitch Rapp.Well, having finished the first book of the Archangel series has put my fears to rest. Not only is Cris de Niro every bit the hero I was hoping for, he is also a modern version of one that we desperat [...]

    24. If you like love stories that are also packed with thrilling actionthen, this is a book you will like. It moves along nicely, and keeps you entertained all the way through. Chris lost his beloved wife on 9/11, but he prevailed and made a new life for himself and his two sons. His heart never left the towers that day I don’t think any of us will ever forget what happened and how it happened. I can only pray that something that horrendous never happens again. This novel has current events none of [...]

    25. Christian 'Cris' Stephen De Niro lost his wife in the terrorists attacks on 9/11. Since, he has been raising their boys alone. He's a billionaire and one of the most respected businessmen in the world, so when he called his brother-law Ricci, ex-SEALS, to help him head up an anti-terrorism consulting firm, he knew he wouldn't say no. De Niro and his newly assembled team work quickly to turn their newly acquired ground zero building into The Watchman for the United States. However, when they begi [...]

    26. It's a trend I've seen more and more over the last half-dozen years or so - I suppose because publishing companies are cutting their editorial staffs to the bone - but it bothers me enormously to feel the need to get out my editor's red pencil to correct grammar and punctuation mistakes in "professionally" produced books. Unfortunately, my appreciation of this otherwise enjoyable book was marred by the sheer number of them, from incorrect words (it's "short-sighted," not "short-sided," "you're," [...]

    27. I like good characters in a book, and this one delivers on that count. The main character is likeable, a good husband and father, with a sense of morality in life. However, with his wife having died on 9/11, he uses his money to build a security business that works with the government, but also on its own. He steps in to right the wrongs when the government fails to do so. The fact that he is willing to cross certain lines to do so helps to make the character more interesting - even moral charac [...]

    28. I enjoyed reading this book because it touched on all the emotions that held my interest without losing the emphasis of the story. The first chapter was dynamic and drew me into the book right away, however, there were a few instances where I thought simple conversations or meetings could have been said with less words. As needed as these instances are, too many idle words steal from the anxiousness of the story. Nevertheless, the author was able to continually draw the reader back into the pace [...]
