    1. Dark and flowing as a river of cooling lava, this story will get its hooks into you and won't let you go. Lori wrote it for my Year One collection of Living With the Dead, but she took a grain of an idea and made it visceral, personal, and sadly moving. It isn't often that a short story or novella interests me, much less moves me all across the spectrum of human emotion. This one does it, and with a force that surprised me. You won't like some of the things that happen inside, but that's the poi [...]

    2. An amazing novella set in the post-zombie apocalyptic world of Joshua Guess. It's a story of one woman's journey through the terrifying realization that zombies are not always the worst thing that can happen to you. What happens when the mask of civilization is ripped wide open, leaving a gaping wound? Unfortunately, Ellen finds out, and it's not pretty. This is the story of her journey through the worst that can befall a woman and her healing process. An excellent story, very well-written and w [...]

    3. WOW!! I LOVED this Novella! First let me say, the location was an immediate hook. What better place for a Zombie pandemic to begin? Once I started reading this, I just couldn't stop. And the emotion? Complete and total spectrum of the feeling rainbow through this story. And let's be honest, some novella's just don't "pack the punch". This one definitely delivers and then some. I was upbeat in the beginning, then scared, then uber pissed, then supremely uber pissed, scared, touched, sad, scared a [...]

    4. Disclosure - I received a copy of this from the author. This is a grim examination of the human monsters that might survive a zombie attack. By page 7 I was horrified - and hooked.Without giving spoilers, in a fairly short length tale - the book ran to about 40 pages on my kindle - the author manages to pack suspense, outrage, horror, hope and joy into a well-crafted and beautifully written tale, and takes the reader along for the ride.Recommended for zombie & horror fans, and anyone wonderin [...]

    5. Loved this book--the humanity of it in the midst of a zombie apocalypse the horrible things people will do to each other and the empathy and caring that can still happen in times of fear Whitwam made me cry.

    6. "Monsters Unmasked" is a great end-of-world story with a twist. Rather than focusing on what everyone expects from a zombie story, Lori Whitman adds her own unique perspective. I found this story refreshing, a definite winner!
