    1. A cute wee story, good for the littler picture book crowd, in which Mouse and his/her Poppa go out to play in the beautiful snow. They make angel wings in the snow, "flap, flop!"; they make a snow house, "pitty-pat"; they go ice skating, "twirly, whirly!" The words are fun to say and the fun, loving relationship between a father/grandfather and child is nice to see. The illustrations are adorable.

    2. I don't much care for the mouse books personally, but they are a hit for seasonal story times for the under-three crowd.

    3. A likeable book. It shows the loving relationship between papa mouse and little mouse and all the activities they do in the snow. The art is cute. Nothing extremely great and not a lot of detail but the snow is good. It uses a lot of onomatopoeia with each thing they do. The father/son bond is really nice to see and it is also fun seeing all the things you can do in a particular season done in story form.

    4. Good book showing a young mouse trying out different winter activitites. Also a touching story of the love between a father and son.

    5. Booklist (November 15, 2005 (Vol. 102, No. 6))cpg1252 PreS-K. The creators of books such as Mouse's First Halloween 0 (2000) and Mouse's First Spring 0 (2005) offer a new picture book in which the familiar little mouse encounters snow for the first time. Poppa shows Mouse the many ways of enjoying winter: sledding, skating, and making snow angels, a snow house, and even a large-scale snow mouse. Suitably brief, the text uses plenty of sound words to accompany activities, such as "Swish, wish!" a [...]

    6. Mouse and his Poppa head out to celebrate the first snow of the season. Their fun adventures are offset by having descriptive words such as "Pliff, Ploof!" offset in different font and color. There is no real conflict in the story which makes it perfect for very young children, pre-school age or Kindergarten. Mouse learns that he can do so many of the things that Poppa does, such as make snow angels, or snowballs. Finally, Mouse gets to make a new friend by creating a snowman! It's a fun book to [...]

    7. This is one of the better (and shorter) texts in the Mouse series by Thompson; the use of sound words is particularly nice. Unlike some of the other titles in the series, the text matches the illustrations and Buket Erdogan's textures and brushstrokes are a great fit for the wintry scenes. The saturated colors and textures give a cozy, intimate feel to the tale of Mouse and Poppa's adventures in the snow.Used for snow/winter preschool outreach storytime visits. For 3 year olds in February 2011 a [...]

    8. I love the artwork and the story I don't care for mice but well I want to know who doesbut when they are personified in a cute way, I can deal! This board book has seen better days and I was headed for the delete pile but I think I am going to add some glue and tape and give it a few more miles of fun!

    9. This story is about a mouse and his father going out to play in the snow. They make a snow mouse. They play all day long. This book would go well with younger children in school. I liked that there was so much emphasis on the fact that it was winter. It would be a good book to use during the lesson of the seasons.

    10. This book would be a great book for students to read during the winter and talk about what they like to do in the snow. I also thought it was a great example of a father and son relationship. However I thought it had a lot of "mouse said this" "papa said this" but that might have been important to the structure of the story and also easier for students to understand the flow of the story.

    11. Just a simply wonderful story exploring the treats that winter brings and the close relationship between Papa Mouse and Little Mouse.Wonderful illustrations capture the feelings and fantasies of winter.Oh how I wish we had winters like this in Las Vegas but at least my little ones and I can dream about them when reading this book!

    12. This book was read for Wesley’s summer reading club. Wesley is my (soon to be five year old) son. This review is what we used for his reading club. ***Wesley liked the other Mouse story and thought that this one was cute!

    13. A book my 5 yr old as well as my twin 3 yr olds loved. A solid reading level 1 book, this cute story keeps all ages engaged with the bright colorful pictures and cute story. A great addition to any children's library.

    14. This is one of a series of books on different seasons. They are very simple but have a story. This book has many different sound words like "Pitty-Pat" or "Flap, flop" so it would be good for a storytime focused on Phonological Awareness.

    15. The mice were cute but, although we enjoyed the Mouse Goes to School book, we didn't get all that into this one. My daughter liked it more than I did. I didn't care for the accompanying words, and found it dull to read aloud.

    16. Good read aloud. I have the kindergartners and first graders keep track of how many things Poppa and Mouse do and in what order. They loved it.

    17. Mouse and Poppa go out to enjoy the snow. Mouse tries everything that Poppa does. Cute winter activity book to share with young children. Great introduction for winter activity lessons in K-2.

    18. A perfect read aloud for a winter's night, the art is lovely and I plan to use this for a January snow theme with a mix of ages from 2-5.

    19. We love the beautiful illustrations and the descriptive writing in the books by Lauren Thompson. Even though my girls are older now, I love to buy these books for gifts and for my classroom.

    20. Another Story Time read. Enjoyable for little ones, & is a kid's book that features a dad instead of a mom (which isn't bad but sometimes it's a bit mom-centric out there in kiddie-lit world). Nice!

    21. A fun, sweetly illustrated picture book about winter and snow. Part of a series of Mouse's firsts. Good for a winter storytime.
