    1. One of the blurbs on the cover compares this series to "Lord of the Rings," which is overstating things a little, but only a little. Tate's world of magical forests, living water, warring races, and strange creatures is fascinating and well-developed, like Middle Earth, and features intriguing characters. The cliched battle between Good and Evil has some new and interesting costumes and unexpected additions that make it fresh and appealing. I liked this book better than the first in the series ( [...]

    2. Fans of epic fantasy will enjoy the excellent world-building, political intrigue, and vivid battle sequences that highlight Tate's sequel to Well of Sorrows. Although Colin's humanity is slowly eroding under the influence of the dark magic to which he was exposed as a boy, he remains a sympathetic character, actively striving to protect the world and the three races that inhabit it - human, dwarren, and Alvritshai. 3. Definitely better than the first one. Very enjoyable, and extremely different from the normal fantasy. Your thing I didn't care too much was the fact that the character seemed a bit too serious. Although, it was really good very well done.

    4. A good, solid follow-up book in this fantasy series. But really - I'm still annoyed by the complete change in story/characters two-thirds of the way through the first book, and I was really hoping this volume would explain it. Guess I'll have to wait for the 3rd one.

    5. If you love your epic fantasies full of rich world building, great character sagas, and political and military intrigue, you will love this series.
