    1. This debut novel by Christian romance author Dora Hiers was truly enjoyable. Hiers brings realism and depth to her characters in a story that pits widowed Chelsea Hammond and U.S. Marshal Trey Colten against a ruthless mobster. Both Trey and Chelsea must come to grips with burdens from the past and find healing in Christ before they can let themselves fall in love. Plenty of romance, plenty of suspense, plenty to keep me turning pages!

    4. originally posted at longandshortreviews.cEvery year when Chelsea visited her husband’s grave on the anniversary of his death, she sees a man standing in the distance like he was grieving, too. Who was he and how did he know her husband? Ms. Hiers takes a basic plot and breathes life into it by providing links to the present from the past and throwing in conflict, sexual tension and danger in good quantities. 6. Journey's Embrace by Dora Hiers is a sweet romantic suspense. This is a relative new author and I thoroughly enjoyed this book. He asked Sage to keep an out on Delaney while he was on his honeymoon. Sage doesn't even leave the wedding reception before Delaney is in trouble. Only problem is that Delaney took care of the situation b [...]

    7. I wish I could figure out how to give a 1/2 star. This novel is close to perfect! Chelsea Hammond is the kind of heroine with whom a reader can relate. Her law-officer husband was murdered now she's finally moving on, founding a camp for troubled teens. Her sadness comes through in some of her actions and many of her thoughts but grief does not rule her life nor bring the book down with depression. Hero Trey Colten is equally well-written - a perfect hero with believable faults and quirks. At the [...]

    11. I used to read (adult) romance novels fairly frequently but have fallen out of the habit. I forgot how comforting it is to know that the last page will bring peace and a happy ending. I picked this one up because the author is local and will be speaking at my library in the fall.To be fair, books that identify within the genre as Christian fiction are not usually what I pick up. I don't avoid it, either, though. In this case, the Christian elements don't really feel forced, as I sometimes feel t [...]

    12. Journey's End is a suspenseful tale of romance and law enforcement. Chelsea lost her husband, an undercover police officer, and three years later, his killer's son appears at her shelter for needy teenagers. U.S. Marshal Trey Colten arrives to keep her safe from the kid's father. Their relationship heats up quickly but she wants nothing to do with another man in law enforcement. Well written and entertaining to the end, with a few twists I didn't expect. Dora Hiers does a nice job with the roman [...]

    13. I loved this 1st story in the Journey Creek series, by new-to-me author Dora Hiers. A great romantic suspense featuring Deputy U.S. Marshals! I'm glad I have the next 2 books to read on my Kindle! :)#1 #2 #3

    14. It was an enjoyable read, but a few things kept me from disappearing completely into the story. The romance seemed rushed and a bit unrealistic and the scene changes were abrupt and one even really confused me. But, even though I didn't enjoy it as much as I hoped to, I did find it an enjoyable, mild suspense book that would probably really please romantic suspense fans. :-) It just wasn't for me.

    15. I received this book from First Reads Giveaways. This is a story about a woman who is trying to find peace and go on with her life after the death of her husband and U.S. Marshall trying to come to terms with a terrible mistake. I really enjoyed this book and thought the writing was fantastic. The fast paced action kept me turning pages.

    16. A fantastic read! Chelsea and Trey are well written and their dialogue flows effortlessly. I found myself laughing at their easy banter and flipping the pages during suspenseful moments. The romance and suspense are well balanced and Trey is a great leading man. Faith is an important role in this book and the end is very satisfying. I'll definitely be reading more books by Dora.

    17. A lovely story about love, honor and God's grace. Chelsea and Trey are well developed characters the reader can relate to. We feel their pain, watch their love story develop and applaud their happy ending. A wonderful read spiced up with romance and suspense.

    18. When her husband is murdered, Chelsea Hammond doesn’t think she will ever love or trust again. Forget about forgiveness. Determined to take back her life, she turns her broken heart to troubled teens and forgets the idea of happily-ever-after. She doesn’t need anyone. But then she discovers a stowaway in her barn and quickly realizes just how wrong she is. She will definitely need help protecting this teenager.
