    1. What fun. Stereotypes of the British peerage collide with stereotypes of Southern townfolk, and in the crash most of the clichés fall away. This was a download from Netgalley (thank you!) which I enjoyed quite a bit: the story of Rocky Rhodes, who, and who can blame her, has remade herself in the city far away from her little Southern hometown: there she is called Caroline, and her beauty queen past is buried as deep as she's been able to shovel. (I'd call myself Tallulahbelle to avoid being ca [...]

    2. Another fun visit to Last Chance. Rocky/Caroline shook the dust of Last Chance off her feet when she went to college. She wants more than getting married to her high school sweetheart and reliving her time as Watermelon Queen. She has remade her image into a cool businesswoman who is the administrative assistant to a senator. He has assigned her to take Lord Woolham to Last Chance and convince her father to sell his land to Hugh for his factory. Rocky knows very well that there is no way her dad [...]

    3. If Debbie Macomber's Blossom Street could move to South Carolina and have a little more romance in it, it would be Hope Ramsey's Last Chance series. This is small town America meets sweet romance, with a little bit of sex tossed in for good measure.Reasons why you should read Last Chance Beauty Queen1. Quirky Characters abounding: A down-to-earth English aristocrat that wants to build a textile factory, Rocky's dad, who owns a miniature golf course called Golfing for God!, a little girl that see [...]

    4. 'Last Chance Beauty Queen' is filled with lovable characters that are quirky and sweet. It is a fun read that follows a journey of self-discovery. This is the first Hope Ramsay book I have read, and it definitely won't be the last. She brings the small town, Last Chance, South Carolina to life; I look forward to visiting again. I recommend the book to all contemporary romance readers who enjoy quirky humor.

    5. For it to be satisfying, do we expect our life to be extraordinary?Forward seeking job security is the number one priority for Caroline “Rocky” Rhodes not back pedaling to her fifteen minutes of beauty queen fame. She is moving up the ladder in her office with sights set on a big move coming soon but there is one huge hurdle to overcome. Rocky has to convince her daddy to give up his miniature golf course to Lord Hugh deBracy to have his factory built and everything will be coming up roses.P [...]

    6. DNFThis book was a DNF (did not finish) for me. Here are some of the reasons why:1. This book reads like a Christian romance. There are a ton of religious references such as the “Golfing with God” mini putt place, the angels and all the virtue talk. I don’t read Christian romance and maybe this is why right off the bat I wasn’t feeling this.I think this limits the audience greatly because not everyone can relate to the religious aspects of this story. Unfortunately, I can say that I like [...]

    7. This was a cute, small-town romance with Southern charm and quirky characters. It is full of fun as the home town Watermelon Beauty Queen returns to settle an issue for her boss, the Senator Warren. What ensues are mishaps, misjudgments and misguided assumptions. Some places and characters were confusing to me and I suppose they are explained in one of the first two of this series. Overall the novel is lots of fun, and would have ranked it a bit higher, but a couple of small details that bothere [...]

    8. Loved this romance! The small-town setting made me feel like I was home and the quirky people were so very real. The Cut ‘n Curl, the Watermelon Festival and parade…well, the town of Last Chance is a character in itself. Hugh is not a snobby aristocrat but he does have duty to fulfill and that seems to preclude the career-minded Rocky who is already a little gun-shy because of a past event the entire town remembers. This is the third book in the series and although it can be enjoyed alone, I [...]

    9. I really enjoyed this book the 3rd in the series of Last Chance. It had me laughing and crying. I can't wait to see what the next book brings. I love the people in Last Chance.

    10. 30 year old Rocky Rhoades (she is professionally known as Caroline for obvious reasons) hasn’t been back to Last Chance for the Watermelon Festival for, oh, 12 years; and she has no intention of going back. The last time she was crowned queen at the age of 18 and Bubba Lockhart, her high school admirer proposed to her. In front of everyone. On stage. Uh… thank you, but Rocky wasn’t quite that polite in front of the entire crowd of cheering people. She had dreams and marriage wasn’t one o [...]

    11. ***original review posted at Romancing Rakes For The Love of Romance***This is a charming story full of laugh-out-loud moments and a sweet, down home feel that bring to mind peach cobbler, watermelon festivals and Southern beauty queens.Caroline Rhodes has worked very hard to separate herself from her small town roots. She's now the aid to a senator and has been tasked with trying to convince the owner of Golfing For God to sell his land to an English lord so he can build a textile factory.9 Pro [...]

    12. Caroline Rhodes worked for Senator Warren of South Carolina. Sirocco Caroline Rhodes was from the town of Last Chance, SC. She had 3 brothers, Stone, Tulane and Clay. She ended up with the nickname of Rocky Rhodes due to her brothers names. Her father owned a miniature golf course called Golfing for God. It was said that Elbert Rhodes wouldn't sell the land because the angels he spoke to were against him selling the property. The place had been hit during a storm and was in very poor shape and c [...]

    13. Last Chance Beauty QueenHope RamsayB-Ms. Ramsay’s Welcome to Last Chance, the first book in this series captured my imagination with the sorrowful angel, and the quirky characters – so much so I am literally compelled to find out the rest of the story. While I thought the second book somewhat weak, the third book -Last Chance Beauty Queen has the author back on track with her amusing scenarios and unpredictable plot. Carolina Rhodes is between a rock and a hard place. Her boss, Senator Warre [...]

    14. Posted at Oh My Books! When I read the synopsis of Last Chance Beauty Queen, I remember thinking 'I have to read this book'. Ruby Rhodes has an appealing voice, and I couldn't wait to see if she was right about her daughter's love life.Rocky is a successful woman, and she's at one step to having her dream job. She only has to convince the English royalty Hugh that he doesn't need her father's land to complete his factory's plans. The thing is, Hugh is not so easy to convince, and the idea of a ne [...]

    15. Caroline “Rocky” Rhodes has worked very hard to get far away from Last Chance, South Carolina. She has Washington D.C. in her sights, working under a U.S. Senator, but ends back up in Last Chance when an English Baron comes to town.Hugh DeBracy plans to tear down tourist attraction Golfing for God and build a textile machinery factory. The Senator is all about bringing in business and has Rocky help Hugh out. Problem is, Golfing for God is Rocky’s dad’s pride and joy.So now she’s back [...]

    16. (It's a great group, you should check it out)This book is part of a series, which I didn't realize until I added this to my currently reading shelf on . Luckily, you don't really need to have read the other books to understand what's going on. There are a few details that are a little unclear, but fo [...]

    20. 3.5 StarsThe first two Last Chance books by Hope Ramsay shares the story of Clay and Tulane Rhodes. Beauty Queen is about Rocky, the only girl among the Rhodes siblings. She works as an administration assistant to a US Senator, and is known for "working miracles", solving difficult situations. One of the situations she needs to fix involves a certain English baron. Hugh de Bracy (Lord Woolham) needs the Senator's help in creating a factory. At Last Chance. On Rocky's father's land. Rocky knows t [...]

    22. Rocky Rhodes romance sure didn't disappoint!! Take a small town, mix in a an English Lord, throw in a bit of drama for fun and you get yourself one very sweet romance.I was excited to read Last Chance Beauty Queen because we didn't get all that much Rocky Rhodes, little sister, in the last two books, so I was curious to know more about her. Small town girl disguises herself as buttoned up business woman, when all she really wants to do is run around in her bare feet and live in a Fairy Tale. Unf [...]

    24. Last Chance Beauty Queen is the third book in the series Last Chance, set precisely in the town of Last Chance, South Carolina. The main characters of this story are Rocky Caroline Rhodes and Hugh DeBracy. Rocky or rather Caroline, as she prefers to be called, is a young woman who tries in every way to shake off the image of beauty queen. 25. I had recently read the Lucky Harbor series by Jill Shalvis , also published by Grand Central Publishing and I adored the books! So you can assume that the bar was set pretty high for Last Chance Beauty Queen, Book #3 in the Last Chance series by Hope Ramsay. This book revolves around Rocky aka Caroline, a former Last Chance Beauty Queen, who left her small town for bigger things. She's a woman who knows what she wants and has worked for it. She actually reminded me a little bit of Reese Withersp [...]

    26. I won this book through First Reads on .I have never read the other two "Last Chance" novels by Hope Ramsey, but after reading this book, I plan to. I'm also looking forward the the "Last Chance Christmas" coming out in September. However, I will probably wait until closer to Christmas to read itjust because it seems better that way. :) This book wasn't amazing or something that would cause a revelation but it was a very enjoyable read. I felt invested in the characters and I wanted them to succ [...]

    27. Caroline Rhoades was ecstatic for the opportunity to leave her small South Carolina town for college and a career, especially after being humiliated by a pubic marriage proposal that she didn't want. Years later her job for Senator Warren sends her back to Last Chance to help an English Lord obtain property for a factory. As if that isn't bad enough, the work has to be done during the local Watermelon Days festival.Last Chance is a quirky Southern town where gossip travels fast, and you don't me [...]
