    1. Brandon and Max are merely best friends outwardly, but actually secretly dating for years. They decide to come out after their high school graduation and stop hiding. But it is easier said than to be done. Max is not ready for this yet, and the fact that Brandon has done it so easily and cheerfully confuses him even more. Max dreads coming out, and sees no other solution but breaking up with Brandon. The story is written from Max’s viewpoint, in third person. It is his story: his confusion, str [...]

    2. As pretty much anyone who reads my reviews knows, I am very picky and one thing I don’t like can ruin an entire book for me. I say that because my other experiences reading this authors books (I think I only read two) don’t always get the best review from me. I think I am the only person that didn’t like The Angel of 13th Street. Anyway I am delighted I loved this story and I get to write a nice review for Eden. I don’t have a lot to say but it is all nice. I will admit I was so nervous [...]

    3. I think that Eden Winters did a good job transforming the selected photo into a story. I liked the beginning of the story but I feel like Maxxie got lucky. He treated Brandon REALLY poorly and even after that, Brandon gave him all the space and time he needed. Brandon was almost unreal in his understanding. There was no argument, no accusation, Brandon just let him off the hook. I would have liked to see Maxxie do more to earn Brandon's trust back after the way he treated him. I knew that Dave w [...]

    4. 3.5 starsThank you for writing this story Eden. It really must be one of the toughest things for a son of conservative parents to do, is to come out to them - wondering if he's going to lose his family as a result. Yet in the end, it's also really tough to live a lie, always hiding a key part of yourself. I think you have managed to capture all the turmoil, self-doubt and pain that is involved with coming outMax looked Brandon full on. "I couldn't do it anymore. Hide, that is. While coming out m [...]

    5. Beautiful. Coming out is such a difficult thing for so many young people, and I appreciated that Ms. Winters didn't gloss over the fallout they face. Of course it's terrifying, and while I could utterly sympathize with Brandon and his heartbreak, I couldn't blame Max for the way he thought he had to handle it. I mean, what a choice!--keep my lover or keep my family. It's such a real repercussion; I think it's the rare 'coming out' individual who never has to face such thing. For a while, I worri [...]

    6. *happy sigh*I just loved this. So angsty at the start, and then just a perfect ending for these two guys. I love Bran's scheming talking about Dave, and I loved Max's parents' reactions to his coming out. This was very sweet, I really enjoyed it. Thanks!

    7. **2.5 stars**This was a cute, short read but it just didn't excite me. I wanted to punch Max a little. He was a major jerk to Brandon, who liked him for who knows what reason. The only reason I rated it as highly as I did was that it was sweet and easy with a nice HEA.

    8. Wow!!! This cute short is like my personal miniature dream book! Friends-to lovers as teenagers: CHECK.A classic angsty break-up: CHECK.A long separation filled with typical teenage emotional breakdown: CHECKHot sex: CHECKHEA that was a little too perfectly wrapped up (oh well): CHECK.I loved this! It managed to pack the elements I love in a full length novel in a just a few pages. Recommend!

    9. Hard to imagine the trauma that anyone goes through when faced with the choice between losing someone you love when you won't come out, or losing your family because you come out. I really felt the intensity of the emotions surrounding these guys and I really just wanted to snuggle them both! Loved this story - thank you, Eden!

    10. This was a "Aawwww" story for me. I was worried. It's hard when the two people in a couple are at different stages in their life, so to speak. Max was afraid and Brandon was sneaky, but alls well that ends well :)

    11. A beautifully written short that managed to make me cry, with sadness for Max's fear & doubt, and with joy for Brandon & Max's reunion!

    12. A high school/college romance story that is a nice mix of bitter (beginning) and sweet (end). Emotional without being too heavy.

    14. Another m/m short story. Both cute/sweet and angsty, but didn't do all that much for me in the end. 2.5-ish read for me, but I do appreciate the generosity of these authors for providing us with so much great content for free! Note: This short story can be found as part of the M/M group's FREE GayRomLit 2011 compilation: Download It Here

    15. Short read about one boy whose willing to come out as a gay so he can be with the guy he loves whole the other struggles to come out and causes a rift between them. I did want to kick Max because Brandon loved him so much and it felt like Max wasn't ready to fight for their relationship.

    16. Good, but too short to enjoy it properly. Cute and a little bit angsty, gives us full scale of emotions. It's kind of sad that RL don't work that way. But, to be honest, books are the only place when impossible becomes possible, ILY really can solve something and anyone can find happiness :)

    17. An angsty friends-to-lovers coming out story with an HEA. I was so heartbroken for Brandon and wanted to punch Max a few times, but I'm glad it all worked out in the end.
