    1. Jade Lee has written a superior novel with a remarkable hero and heroine who have internal strife and secrets galore. But not until these two learn to trust each other, do they finally become whole. This book is not your happy go lucky romance. The hero tries multiple times to kill the heroine as she is also an opium addict in 19th century China. Anna Marie is a strong yet damaged woman. She is English but was orphaned in China. Her adopted father, who may or may not have been friends of her par [...]

    2. Ok. First book of hers I have read but will not be the last.A truly romantic romance written to draw you in and keep you reading. She gives you the thoughts and feelings from both participants and her words draw you in and you feel the romance and become a part. You finish the book but slow down reading cause you don't want the warm mushy feelings to go away. With her writing skill I know how to get the feeling back. Another of her books coming right up!!

    3. Growing up in China as an orphan, Anna grows up in a convent. Her "adopted father" got her hooked on opium and she is now on the run trying to get away from him. Zhi-Gang is going ofter the opium dealers. But when they meet, he can't go through with killing her. Through their trials and tribulations, Anna and Zhi-Gang find heaven in each other's arms. Jade Lee once again is able to spin a story showing that love can bring us to heaven.

    4. I think that Jade Lee's writing is so refreshing. Seeing a couple of these two different races is very rare. Not only that, but the interaction between the characters and how they grew to love one another was very dynamic and involving. If anyone has read or heard of other authors that write asian and white couples, please let me know. I'd like to explore that arena.

    5. Poignant story of forbidden love. Especially well done from. His side, I thought, where he knows he shouldn't but can't help himself. Her opium addiction is well described. I was less impressed with the sex stuff which is original but takes some open mindedness, and more with the adventure plot which is vivid against the setting of empirial china.

    6. The story is set towards the close of the 19th Century and the terrible Opium Wars in China. Lee does not demonize the Europeans, instead, she presents the reader with the Chinese point of view. She is very detailed about Opium addiction and creates a sympathetic character in Anna.

    7. I really enjoyed this book. Anna is a runner for opium a very dangerous thing in China. Being a white woman she stands out. She is caught by the Enforcer and right before he excucutes her, he decides to spear her. But why? This book is tells the story of these two. And it is really good.

    8. A wonderful book with a unique setting and background. If you are looking for tortured heroines, this is the book for you. Its set in the late 19th century China, and the herione is an opium addict. There is lots of action and romance. A keeper for me.
