    1. Wow…I’m not even sure where to start. I’ve followed this author’s short stories weekly on her blog, and ever since I read the first one, I’ve been captivated by her writing. Her flow is wonderful, and her style amazing. I’ve been slowly counting the weeks until her release of this book, and I was thrilled to pick it up. I finally sat down to read it, and when I got through the first few pages today, I didn’t stop until I was done. This story sucked me in and I finished it in one si [...]

    2. An Awesome n intense quick read! All of us in some point in our life can relate to Lyss, down n out on our luck, but with hope, love n friends we rebound!I think there could be more of Lyss & her adventure,& I'm hoping for a sequel.Thank You,Sarah, you put a bright spot in my life with this book! I have recommended this book to all my friends!

    3. Lyss Brewer starts off the new year a mess – no job, no boyfriend, no place to live, no money and of all places in a motel room. However her luck quickly changes when she’s offered a job at a local inn, not to mention it’s a live in position which solves all manner of the aforementioned problems for Lyss. She makes friends fast with most of the staff, they soon become like a family to her and finally everything is going right again.Soon though the walls of the old inn start to speak to Lyss [...]

    4. This is one of those books where I'm not quite sure how I feel about it. The writing was clean and engaging but I never really felt the type of connection to the characters that I was expecting to feel. And just when things look like they're moving in a direction I can get behind, something BIG happened that threw me, as a reader, into a tailspin. Since I try to keep my reviews spoiler free, I'm not going to go into the big happening except to say that it caught me off guard and left me flounder [...]

    5. I absolutely loved this book! The character of Lyss was fun, snarky, with a bit of deep-set angst. She found she has a gift of seeing, which makes her think she is crazy. I liked the relationships she had with the people at the inn. They were all unique characters that Lyss grew to love like family. I do wish there was a little more of Gloria because she seemed so eccentric, but the reason for her absence is understood and explained. The history behind what's going on is a great story in and of [...]

    6. I wasn't sure what to expect from this book but I had a feeling I'd be quite entertained. As someone who follows Sarah on Twitter, her witty tweets set my expectations high and I have to say, this book didn't disappoint. I wasn't expecting a paranormal but I caught on by chapter 4 that something wasn't right about the girl talking to Lyss. I was expecting some kind of romance and the book toys around with romance but veers away often to dive into the suspense of serial killers, mysteries and gho [...]

    7. Lyss starts off the new year heart broken and without a job, crying on the floor of a cheap motel. She finds a job as assistant manager at an inn. The owners' son moves home to become the manager. The two start off not liking each other but soon become friends then more. However, Lyss starts hearing and seeing things no one else does. I don't want to give anything away so I won't go into great detail. I will say it has a twist or two. I wasn't happy with the ending; it was left open ended. Other [...]

    8. I would give this book a very strong 4.5 star rating! This is a book you want to sit and read in one sitting! Once I started I did not want to stop. This is a wonderful ghost story that will leaving you wanting more! Luckily there is a sequel!

    9. I thought it was vaguely entertaining but it lacked substance. It was just okay in parts and blah in the rest.

    10. Paranormal type book. Interesting twist at the end--if Sarah makes this into a series, I probably would not read the next books.

    11. This one really sucked me in! I wasn't expecting the ending, but I am definitely hooked now. Looking forward to book 2. Awesome debut novel!

    12. A delightful paranormal tale of a girl named Lyss who happens upon a job at a historic inn with stories of it's own.

    13. Strangely eerie paranormal mystery/horror story that is unsettling at best and chilling at it's worst. Not going forward with series.
