    1. I did really want to like this book, but lets just say I thought it could have used improvements. As a while it was a fairly straight forward novel. 2. Augustine has a talent for writing spunky dialogue and vivid descriptions. His characters kept me hooked! The first of the Skull and Angel novels takes readers on an adventure through a fantasy world in which some areas thrive on steam technology while others avoid it. The hero, Harker, begins as a typical college dropout who grows into so much more through the course of events. His quest? Saving the love of his life, of course.
