    1. FIRST READS WIN: When I first began to read the stories in Chicago Burns and Other Side Trips, I wasn't so sure I was going to like the book. I had a hard time getting into the first story; however, the end caught me with its irony and that's all it took. This is the third book of Gavin R Dobson's Geordie Kinloch series, the main theme here is that in our busy lives we should always take time out to enjoy places and people that we may not encounter again, for instance, Geordie ends up in Chicago at a hilarious burn's supper and gets into a real pickle on a one day business trip to New Zealand. I thoroughly enjoyed the book and it is a highly entertaining book to leave in the guest rooms for a light-hearted bed time read.
