    1. This novella-length book of short stories is outstanding. I suppose Thoroughly Modern Monsters has to be categorized as urban fantasy. Its seven stories are set in an alternate U.S. in which everyone seems to know about "monsters" (gorgons, vampires, werewolves, and so forth) and the "Monster Relocation and Employment Act" has been passed to control their more dangerous tendencies and to make use of their special abilities.Forgoing the gritty style typical to the subgenre, Rainey's first-person [...]

    2. Thoroughly Modern Monsters by Jennifer Rainey is a collection of seven short stories with interesting twists in each. The author’s voice and her vision on paranormal elements are quite unique. Readers find a lot to love in Rainey’s vampires, werewolves and a few monsters you may not have seen before. In her skilled hands, these characters find themselves in a number of new, surprising situations, as they cope with problems and find their solutions. At times, the stories are dark or frighteni [...]

    3. If these stories contained in this collection are any indication of the freaking genius lurking in Rainey's mind, I foresee many fantastic books to come in the future. I loved the author's creativity and spunk, which shines through each story in the collection despite their length (which is hard to do, mind you.)

    4. An excellent collection of short stories presenting some really thoroughly modern monsters, from ghosts to werewolves. Waiting for more publications from this awesome young writer, who has an awesome sense of humour also!

    5. Inventive set of short stories, each with their own polished gems. Expertly done, with oodles of creativity and spunk. My kind of author, for sure!
