    1. A clever little story! I really enjoyed it, and so did my son, even if the plot and the twist seemed very familiar, a bit in the spirit of the classic fairytales/fables. All the bits of the plot added up nicely, with a good build up in the story. My kid, who's only just turned five, was a little puzzled when the invitation finally showed up and had to be helped just a little bit to make sense of it all.I notice that this book is sort of part of an ongoing series. I'll admit that it might spur me [...]

    2. A trickster tale about an alligator and a pig who share the same birthday. When Piglet shows up on Alligator Al's doorstep he thinks he's extremely lucky and imagines the delicious dinner in store, but Piglet turns out to be pretty clever and tricks Al into preparing for a birthday party by decorating, making a cake, and inviting guests.A funny read aloud with gouache illustrations. PreK-2.

    3. If you're already a fan of Keiko Kasza, My Lucky Birthday is right in your wheelhouse. If not - and if you like humorous, trickster-type stories - this will make a fine introduction to her work. As an added bonus, the author throws in a neat little twist that you won't see coming. Best for early elementary or sophisticated pre-school audiences.

    4. Okay, so this was actually a little long for my storytime kids, but it was my birthday, so I get to read what I want! And I thought this was hilarious! Maybe not quite as good as My Lucky Day, but still a keeper. I did have to change a few words and adjust the ending a little to make it flow a little better, but that was a simple fix, and, like I said, I did enjoy it.

    5. An unusually good picture book. Some generic things, but it's also a bit more raw than most kids books. My kids found the story a bit disturbing actually. You have to think through what happened and ponder the morals. It's not 100% clear cut, so it provides good discussion.

    6. Kasza's tricky pig from "My Lucky Day" is back. Compare the two books for the Core Standard of Integration of Knowledge & Ideas, and talk about what the pig's plan was all along for Key Ideas & Details.

    7. This was a cute little book about a crocodile and a pig. The pig convinces the Alligator to do all sorts of things like bake a cake, blow up balloons, decorate for a birthday party before he eats him. My bug enjoyed it.

    8. I was a little disappointed in this one. I LOVE My Lucky Day, so I thought I would like this one just as much but I really didn't. The kids still had a little fun with it, but not as much as My Lucky Day.

    9. Danger for Piglet. After making a cake, decorating for his birthday, and inviting Piglet's friends over for the birthday celebration, will Mr. Al eat Piglet and friends for his birthday dinner?

    10. Clever story about an alligator planning to cook a piglet for his birthday dinner, but who gets outsmarted by the piglet. Loved it!

    11. A fine enough story of a clever little pig, a bit like a folktale, but the illustrations detracted for me.

    12. Cute book about an alligator and a pig that share a birthday. Alligator Al thinks he's going to have roasted pig for his birthday dinner, but Piglet has other plans.

    13. That clever little piglet from My Lucky Day is back again, scheming how to get a birthday party out of Al Alligator. Similar plot, differing main character, but still will be a favorite!

    14. Wow! This was really fun! Have I not read anything else by Keiko Kasza? I must remedy that. Lots to think about in the endinga little tricky for G, but maybe the Kindies would figure it out.

    15. Pretty cute. Will probably read at St. Patrick's Day storytime because St. Pat's Day books are kinda long for my crowd.
