    1. This is not your run of the mill BDSM story. It is set in Colonial Africa, and though a specific date isn't mentioned in the book it is on the sales introduction as 1924. The monetary values quoted also suggest it's between the wars. It is a story of contrasts of sexual slavery. Caroline, a newly widowed, healthy young woman in her early twenties and typically, repressed, supressed even deprived sexually as many women were of that time, has seen a naked young woman in a restrained, submissive si [...]

    2. Somewhat surprisingly this is a gentle and loving slave story. It begs the question to the reader if given the option would you choose slavery to the ideal master? I suspect, much like the philosopher-king many would say, "Yes." Unfortunately, once powerless there is little that can be done to rectify a bad situation and this idyllic languishing gives way to a darker, less pleasant thriller driven tale where all the participants come to acknowledge all the realities inherent in the situation. Wh [...]

    3. White Ivory is what they call white slaves. This is an interesting story. Van Gryf meets Douglas at the beginning and finds Douglas to be a kindred spirit and it turns out they make quite a team. Caroline is a pleasure whore, she wants it all the time and she is willing to suffer in order to gain her pleasure. Caroline is the only woman from van Gryf's Stable that is there voluntarily however she is NOT the only one pleased to be there. This is quite a page turner especially toward the end. Lind [...]

    4. I enjoyed this departure from the usual BDSM capture fantasy. In fact, I don't really think it's a capture fantasy at all since the heroine begged to become a slave. The story had several surprising developments which kept my interest right up to the end.Vivian adroitly stated the story's central dilemma in her review, and essentially this story illustrates the vast difference between being the slave of a "good" master vs. a monster. In both cases the slave is property, but one is a fairly preva [...]

    5. So this is like a really odd story. I am going to warn you right now: If any sort of torture is too much for you, don't read this. If you actually like torture, you may still find this a bit much. The first part is about a widow whose husband has recently died. He was an English Vicar who thought he was on the fast track to be the next Archbishop when he made a huge mistake and got sent to Africa as penance. It didn't work out very well and after a few years he drank himself to death. He was so b [...]

    6. From the first page I was drawn into the story. The descriptive text had me easily picturing the scene in my mind. The story is set in Africa in 1924 and is about a newly widowed woman, Caroline Milton, who wishes to become a slave to her neighbour, Piet Van Gryf. This has been her wish since innocently spying him through a window with one of his other slaves. Piet is reluctant and gives her plenty of opportunity to renounce her decision. He also underhandedly entices another man he has picked, [...]

    7. Well, that was intense! So, White Ivory is a story of a slaver with a heart of gold, his stable of slave girls, and his newest acquisition, who asked to become a slave.Caroline was a supposedly quiet and submissive girl, who did what others wanted, but never seemed to get what she wanted. She felt like her husband, and father before him, had never cared about her, let alone loved her, and from the descriptions she gave, she sounds correct. However, she had quite a temper when she wasn't getting h [...]

    8. set in Africa, harem of sex slaves who happily exist in a state of constant arousal whose lives revolve around nothing but sex, all belonging to one man. Intense BDSM with pain but loving. A bad guy who exposes them to truly evil non-con BDSM. Has the feel of a book written for men, but I did enjoy it.

    9. One of my New Year resolutions for 2013 (actually, already for 2012) was to read more erotica, for no other reason that I generally enjoy them but still don’t really read all that many. I tend to lean towards D/s and non-consensual themed stories, and White Ivory fits both categories (for the most part it is kind of consensually non-consensual but there are some parts towards the end which are very much forced), so will almost certainly not be not to everyone’s taste. To aggravate matters ev [...]
