    1. This book has proven to be very hard for me to pin down. There were parts that I loved so much that I could barely contain myself, yet there were a few others that seemed to fall flat regardless of the incredible feats they were describing. There is nothing about this story that is boring, however; in fact, it is one of the most imaginative books I've read in a long time. Think of something along the lines of the world of Pandora from James Cameron's Avatar, except explored at much greater lengt [...]

    2. Also check out my tour stop for this book, featuring a giveaway & guest post about selling your book & dealing with Asperger's Syndrome here! (:Rating Clarification: 3.5 / 5SECRET OF THE SONGSHELL is definitely one of the most imaginative and original books I've ever read. The world, abilities, natives, and basic idea of the book are just so fascinating, and unlike anything I've ever read before. Combined with a likable set of characters and a quick plot, this book was just fun to read!T [...]

    3. Oh, I wanted to like this book. The author even came to our book club and asked my opinion. I had to be vague. It was the most polite thing to do. Full disclosure- super action fantasy is not my genre. Unfortunately, this book didn't change my mind. It's obviously a first time novel for the author- written in a very juvenile style with stilted dialogue. And the plot reads like a video game. Conquer each obstacle, regain a life point, and move onto the next screen where more obstacles await. Ever [...]

    4. First of all, I love the fact that a teen with Asperger’s is a superhero in this book. Rather than focusing on the negative side of Asperger’s, Tashima opted to focus on the fact that these kids, like his son, often display amazing abilities. What's more, Tashima gives readers a feel for how a teen with autism spectrum disorder would feel and think, educating kids in general about ASD.This book is fast-paced, full of great detail, incredibly creative and exciting. I also admire the way Tashi [...]

    5. What a fun, creative, sci-fi/fantasy adventure story with well-written characters, magical objects, and fascinating settings & creatures. In addition, the protagonist teen has Austism Spectrum Disorder and discovers that his uniqueness & abilities could actually make him a "chosen one" archetype who can solve or overcome obstacles, make a positive difference and stop the villain, rather than someone "different" who feels judged by others. What a great message, and not in a preachy way th [...]

    6. Fascinating characters. Unique premise. Unusual setting. All you could want in a novel about music, magical powers, and fantastical creatures.Secret of the Songshell is an imaginative adventure for all ages. Joel and Felicity are a dynamic pair, both struggling with social issues and trying to find their places in the world. When they are chosen by their rock star idol Marshall to enter a bizarre world of odd creatures where they will hone their musical skills and learn how to become rock stars [...]

    7. Secret of the Songshell, the first volume of the Spectraland Saga, was highly entertaining, unique, and kind of intense. I didn't know what expect when I borrowed this book from someone at work. The cover of the book didn't catch my attention, but once I started reading the book, I became hooked. It was well worth the read. I'm actually looking forward to the next installment. Secret of the Songshell was like a good mix of Edgar Rice Burroughs's Barsoom series, "The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of T [...]

    8. What an exquisitely beautiful mind Tashmina must have to have produced this. If you read this, you'll be travelling to a better place that you'll never want to leave.
