    1. Review originally posted at fictionvixen/review-viciouVicious Moon is the third book in the Earth Witches series by Lee Roland. This series reads like an urban fantasy, but is labeled as an urban fantasy romance and I guess that’s where my trouble with this book lies. In the romance, or lack of one really.Nix Ianira is an ex-mercenary turned private investigator who happens to also be an earth witch. Never having any real interest in the affairs of witches she left home and never looked back. [...]

    2. Posted on Romancing the Books blogReviewed by RobinReview copy provided by the AuthorSomehow I am drawn to the moon. It doesn’t matter if it is in the title of a book or movie or even at night going out to look at the moon and take pictures I find it fascinating. So, I decided Vicious Moon sounds like it would be a story about Vampires, Were beings and creatures of the night. I found that this wasn’t the case. Okay it had some creatures of questionable origins but, I was a little disappointe [...]

    3. Vicious Moon was an enjoyable and thrilling read. It tells the story of a young witch, Nyx, who is forced to return to her home town, Twitch Crossings, to search for her sister, Marisol, also a witch who had gone missing in Duivel, Missouri. There she crosses path with several other notable characters; Laudine, Dervick, Micheal, Aiakos and more importantly Ettienne who supposedly is the love of her life. Accompanied by her ever faithful familiar, Herschel, Nyx goes on several adventures that tes [...]

    4. I would have loved to give this five stars straight-up but hesitate as I recall the glaring typos near the end of the kindle version of the book which I read. Great characters, and though numerous, she did her best to keep them distinct. Several deep story lines. Perhaps a little too fast-paced for my tastes-- so many scenes she passes over with a paragraph summation. I felt drawn into the story and yet settings did not linger in my mind as I expected. I believe it might be due to less use of al [...]

    5. ABOUT THE BOOK: “A powerful witch might live a long time, but a single well-placed bullet could change that. While my preferred weapon was magic, I was not averse to shooting anyone or anything offering my sister or me harm.”Ex-soldier and earth witch Nyx Ianira is working as a PI in San Francisco when she sees the last thing she ever wants to see: the Sisters of Justice—the mysterious earth witch police force. A Triad of Sisters usually means an execution mission, but the Sisters’ only [...]

    6. 4.5/5Mon avis en FrançaisMy English reviewI was really curious to start this series, especially given the beautiful reviews that I had read. I thought it would me may be difficult to start with the third book because I think it’s always the fact with traditional urban fantasy novels as we need to read a book after another. But not at all! Each novel follows a different person, so it is not a problem to read this novel apart from the others, though I am now very curious to discover the stories [...]

    7. Review also posted on Book Lovin' MamasFirst off, let me say I am so mad at myself for reading out of order. I wish I would have had time to read the first two books before picking up the third book. I am drawn to urban fantasy books and when I read the blurb and saw the cover of Vicious Moon, I knew I had to read it and that is the main reason why I signed up for the blog tour. (I have OCD when reading out of orderd kicked myself when reading Vicious Moon) I also found myself a new author, who [...]

    8. ***posted as a guest review over at paranormalhaven**** I haven’t read anything by Lee Roland before, and I chose Vicious Moon to review because it features the supernatural specimen of my choice, witches. The book itself is sort of an odd mixture of PNR and UF, although if I really had to choose, I’d go with UF. The relationship between the two main characters develops sort of haphazardly, and that aspect of the novel is what disappointed me the most.Nix Ianira is an earth witch and a licen [...]

    10. Full review on All About Romance - likesbooks/cgi-bin/bookRevSo there is this thing called “show, don’t tell” - one of the first things you learn about good writing. In the end, it is really more about balance than anything else, but the basic idea behind it is to not have large blocks of “let me tell you about this thing that happened/is happening/will happen” with no direct integration into the story. Now that the lesson of the day is over, here’s the relevance - this story failed [...]

    11. Vicious Moon, Earth Witches #3, by Lee RolandGrade: B-“Of course I’m supportive. I haven’t tried to kill you yet.”Nyx Ianira knows she is not the best witch out there, in fact she leaves that job to her younger and much more talented sister but when her sister goes missing in Duivel, Missouri Nyx knows only she can bring her back. Nyx soon enters the strange and magical world of the Barrows that is the heart of the magic in Duivel and a cage for a powerful force that could cause a lot of [...]

    12. And book three continues my fan-Dom :) again, we have the previous characters coming around but it's main characters are new- well some of them. Wanna know what my favorite part of this one is? The fact that there's romance, but it's not the cute fairy tale ending nor is it the main plot of the book. I think I really liked this one. Plus, the farting dog is absolutely hilarious!! Seriously, read this one just for Hershel if not for any other reason. This is Nix's story. Her sister has gone missi [...]

    13. 3.5 stars - Take a witch who carved out a different kind of life as a PI and former mercenary because she didn't fit the mold of her witchy heritage - Nyx is equally comfortable with a gun as with her somewhat unpredictable fire magic - and drag her back to her 'roots' then set her on the hunt to find the sister who went missing in the warded city of Duviel and then add one sexy former bad guy who is immune to magic and has every reason to hates witches and sit back and watch the sparks fly.I en [...]

    14. Lee Roland’s Vicious Moon is third in the Earth Witches series, but it stands remarkably well on its own. I enjoyed the story. Nyx is an interesting character, although when she’s in the company of her old soldier buddies she develops a Mary Sue vibe (they’re all besotted with her). Her familiar, a drooling dog named Herschel, is entertaining but a bit too much of a mystery. It leaves his bits of help and his disappearances feeling arbitrary or contrived. While I enjoyed the plot and charac [...]

    15. I gave this a 3.5, but I round up rather than down. The way it starts annoyed me: (view spoiler)[the grandmother organises a bunch of trained witch-killers to kidnap her granddaughter witch. Said witch-killers don't explain why they are after her, so naturally she fights them - and it creates this whole false sense of crisis. Hadn't the grandmother ever heard of a mobile phone? Geez! (hide spoiler)] Also, the info dumps - blocks of information where the character just directly describes stuff to [...]

    16. I think I would have like this one better had the hero not despised the heroine for most of the book. He didn't like her, didn't trust her, hated that she was a witch, but didn't have an issue sleeping with her, therein lies my issue. It made me not like Etienne. Nyx wasn't much better for me. She was the type of person to run in without thinking which caused herself and others to get hurt. I was surprised that she didn't get more hurt. I was actually more invested in the relationship between Ny [...]

    17. Out of the three books in this series, this one drives me crazy. There wasn't a whole lot of story in this book. The other ones had a lot of clichés in them but they also had a story that had some substance and that kept going at a good clip. This one, not so much. Also I have a real problem with the main character in this story. I hate it when an author has a character say one thing really vehemently and then think and act a different way. If I had to read her saying how tough and independent [...]

    18. 3.5 stars. The story was good and the heroine was awesome. There was nothing about Nyx that I didn't like. Unfortunately the romance let down the story. I had no strong feelings about the hero one way or the other and there was no connection between the two. I could buy physical attraction but nothing in their interactions made "love" at all believable. Especially as Nyx is such a down to earth, sensible woman who knows exactly who she is and what she wants. What I don't understand is why she wa [...]

    19. My thoughts:Fascinating characters. Wonderfully thought out and well executed story. This is a fast-paced, thrilling tale that had me turning the pages faster and faster. I love a book that grabs you from the very first page and makes you want to put everything else on hold until you finish it - this is one of those books.

    20. Loved all three of them and recently found out that there will not be a fourth, at least not soon, because the old editor of the books moved on and the new editor is not a fan. I'm disappointed, but Lee has a new book coming out called Casual Curses (not the full title) that I hope is as good.

    21. Good story. Liked the adventures and action. A little too easy ending with lots of loose ends. The characters were a little too trusting with everyone else (even when they said they weren't).

    22. Giving this a 3 star is totally subjective. it has more to do with me than the story because I failed to read the first 2 books. more reasons to follow - B

    23. Ahah now it is starting to come together .Nice to meet old friends from the earlier books Okay wheres the next one
