    1. A collection of essays by one of the most thoughtful theologians, sharing his vision of the gospel. This book, which is the second to the last of his books written, expresses both deep concern for the church, especially it's unwillingness to engage in serious theological conversation, but also with a certain sense of hope that the church -- even the Mainline churches, can bring the gospel back into play.

    2. I have always like Douglas John Hall. In fact, I think I must have read almost all that he has written. I have made it through the big three and most of his little stuff. So I like the thinking of Douglas John Hall. in these essays he brings together the critic of the fall of Christendom and the elements of what is left that is vital and real about the Christian story. I am surprised that few people remember to mention Loren Meade's The Once and Future Church, who first suggested that the Christ [...]

    3. This was my first DJH book and it certainly will not be the last. In the midst of a "popular Christianity" characterized by a simplistic christology and theological naïveté (i.e. the vast majority of North American evangelicalism and non-christocentric liberal Christianity), DJH's writing is a breath of fresh air. I highly recommend "Waiting for Gospel"!

    4. The first book I've read by Douglas John Hall. I give it five stars mainly because it was well written, easy to understand, interesting, challenging, and provocative. It seemed like a primer to the theologian, and I'll be reading some of his more concentrated works. (It is a collection of essays.)

    5. This collection of essays and lectures by Hall are about the churches' need to move from imperative to indicative, from telling people what they MUST do to sharing the good news of what God has done.
