    1. Wow! I loved this book. But I should preface that with a couple of things. I love books that are dark and gritty and this book is one of them. Books where the characters are pretty well damaged and/or act in reprehensible ways that are only comprehensible by understanding the breadth of the history of the character in question. In this way, Eddie The Kid very much reminds me of another of my favorite books I Know This Much Is True by Wally Lamb. Like I Know This Much Is True, Eddie The Kid is th [...]

    2. Eddie The Kid is a brilliant narrative from Leo Zeiling portraying the negatives and positives in the main character - Eddie Berkstein. The book may not be the thriller type. However, it is a perfect one to identify how the circumstances in different stages of life can change a man. I always have been thinking that parental guidance and behavior can make up the character of the child. Mr. Zeiling has portrayed in his tale how a person's life is changing and his father's role in each situation in [...]

    3. I received this book from GoodReads' FirstReads program.I want to start by commending the author for his wonderful writing. The way the series of events were presented was powerful and honest. The characters are fraught with fractures and dangers but surprisingly, I made emotional connections with most of them. People, in reality, are damaged in ways we can't really comprehend. But what the book did was to give its readers an intricate atmosphere to fully understand each character. To be honest, [...]

    4. [I received a copy of this book from a first-reads giveaway on ] Reseña en español más abajoI don't really know what to say about this book so let's start with: Did I liked it? >>> HELL, NO!!!The main character, Eddie, is simply a piece of sh*t!! He represents everything I don't want in a man: he's obsessive, controlling, abusive, violent and a fu**ing worthless coward. I hated him more and more as the story progressed, and I had to force myself to finish it. By the end of the book, [...]

    5. Leo Zeilig's first novel is engaged fictional writing at its best. He presents a complex chronicle of two generations of socialist activists, from the 1960s through to the era of the 15 February 2003 global mass demonstrations against the imminent Iraq war. The tangled strands of leftist politics, personal and family life unfold in the narrative of the main protagonist, Eddie Bereskin’s present and a series of flashbacks to his parents' youthful activism in the sixties, and the Bereskin family [...]

    6. I received this book as a first-reads giveaway.I want to start by saying that I think this book is very well written, the time-jumping storytelling works very well and isn't hard to follow. But the main reason that I'm only giving this book three stars is that it's way, way too much politics in it, and I'm just not interested in politics. I'm also too young to remember much of this events (because the book is partly based on true events), and I'm not British. This trifecta makes the book seem a b [...]

    7. Fist of all I won the book in the giveways section, so thank you a lot of this opportunity. As a contemporary novel, it's a chef d'oeuvre! I enjoyed the book, the subject was really interesting ( my first time in this genre) So, in the whole I appreciated it. However, i do approch the author the use of sexual content which is a bit weired for me , but like I said, it's my first time in this genre, and I didn't read much of contemporary novels nevertheless the book stays a real good one, and I ad [...]

    8. Although this book failed to make an emotional connection with me and at times it dragged on a bit, I highly appreciate a few things about it. What struck me the most was the disarming honesty with which the main character revealed his most intimate thoughts and fears to the reader. This open attitude cradled a relationship of complicity between the two (character and reader) throughout the book. Also, the author masterfully managed to create a parallel between the turmoil of the world and that [...]

    9. I really enjoyed Eddie the Kid. I couldn't put it down and when I finally did the characters lingered on my mind for days afterwards. I always think that's the mark of a powerful story.
