    1. Answer to History = Reponsea L'historie, Mohammed Reza PahlaviMohammad Reza Pahlavi (Mohammad Rezā Pahlavi‎, 26 October 1919 – 27 July 1980), known as Mohammad Reza Shah, was the Shah of Iran from 16 September 1941 until his overthrow by the Iranian Revolution on 11 February 1979. Mohammad Reza Shah took the title Shāhanshāh ("Emperor" or "King of Kings") on 26 October 1967. He was the second and last monarch of the House of Pahlavi of the Iranian monarchy. Mohammad Reza Shah Pahlavi held [...]

    6. Some years ago, during a transitional time in my life, I worked in a book store. This was a bit like living in Disney Land. It was in the days before Internet book searches and online bookstores so finding treasurers was not so easy. The store owners I worked for would often acquire book collections from desert inhabitants who had moved on, passed on or changed interests. I would often stalk these titles, looking for the unusual, the different opinion, or the story as told by an observer rather [...]

    12. Iran. What a tragic story. It is very likely that Pahlavi is largely under-representing (or if we are charitable, under-estimating) the amount of oppression, police brutality, political persecution, and corruption that occurred under his reign. If you are reading a book written by a ruler like he used to be, you take all the facts with a sizable grain of salt. However, the facts and figures of Iran's government pre-Islamic Revolution are not the main reason why you should read this book. You shoul [...]

    13. The Shah is one of the most stigmatized leaders of the late 20th century. The west considers him as a dictator, not a monarch, whose brutality paved the way for the Islamic revolution, and the rise of Islamic fundamentalism. However, reading Pahlavi's own accounts and closer analysis of him, we find a much different picture. We find a man, forced to lead his nation after his father is deposed for his neutrality in WWII that is not industrialized or modern. Yet by the revolution, we see that Iran [...]

    14. All I can say is what another reviewer (on ) said and I thought it is most appropriate to quote him: Reading this book has given me a different perspective of the man and his ideas, his philosophies and his wishes for a nation who supported him whole-heartedly after second World War and who turned against him in 1979. Now I understand that his aspirations for modernization and curbing the yokes of religious fanaticism levelled against our people by the Mullahs during the past several centuries w [...]

    16. A whole book about how Khomeini was going to ruin Iran and how the Shah was nothing but a misunderstood, innovational leader who worked tirelessly for his country.

    18. the autobiography of the shah of Iran. A man tragically out of touch with reality, given over to conspiracy theories and a sanitized summary of his own actions. One need merely read this book to understand the inevitability and unquestionable justice of the 1979 revolution, though what we are left with now in Iran must be viewed as a separate narrative.
