    1. The map was handy to have (though a little inconveniently laid out), but otherwise, this wasn't great. It focused entirely on Manhattan, which is fine, but New York City has five boroughs, not one. It also praised a lot of tourist traps. If you only have one day in NYC, no, you don't need to spend all that time looking at Wall Street, the Statue of Liberty, and Times Square.     2. This guide was very valuable on my trip last week to New York. It had most everything a first- time visitor would want to see, with great explanations and without sounding being a dry read. The size is great too; I wouldn't have wanted anything bigger or heavier. The only thing I would have liked better is if the MTA subway map was inside the book and not on the pullout map.
