    1. You've got to admire multi-lingual people; you've really got to admire multi-lingual people where one of the languages they speak is a dead language such as Old English. This alliterative verse, not translated into prose nor modern verse form, was somewhat difficult for me to really "get into", as it were. Pieces like Marlowe's "Passionate Shepherd" or Shakespeare's "Sonnet 27" lend themselves to memory; this stuff does not. It is neat, though, to imagine this stuff being recited in a mead-hall [...]

    2. A wonderful collection with useful succinct introductions to each chapter. Particularly enjoyed "The Wife's Lament" and "Lamentations of the Fallen Angels." Highly useful as a reference when teaching Medieval History and Literature. I will be using the aforementioned poems in my class, which is all very exciting. I'm glad that I found this book.
