    2. This series begins with a guy named "Nix" who owns his own tattoo parlor. Nix is popular with the ladies, and he is tattoed and bad ass; just how we like our heroes! Our heroine; Scotlyn has had a very traumatic past. After a bad car accident wipes out her whole family, she is alone and hasn't spoken for years. Unfortunately while she was living on the streets, a man named Lincoln 'saved" herReally though, his saving her came at a very tall price. He owns her and controls her, so Scotlyn lives a [...]

    3. Not entirely sure what to say about this novel. It was pretty okay: it had enough suspense to keep me hooked until the end butere was a lot that was wrong with it.First, it needed an editor. Really. Bad. There were random quotation marks that had no purpose other than to confuse people, and then the places that needed quotations were free of them. It was hard to distinguish some of the dialogue. There were other punctuation errors, but it was definitely the quotes that irritated me the most. (An [...]

    4. 4.5 Say My Name StarsOur names are so personal aren't they. I mean that's a stupid thing to say because of course they are. Our family is really big on nicknames. We hardly ever call anyone by their real name. But I love how my husband and kids have special names for the ones they love. Now imagine if the person you loved could not say your name. Could not whisper your pet name to you. You could never hear your name from them. That's the story of Freefall. Nix owns a tattoo parlor. Stophe had me [...]

    5. "The pain will lighten and your voice will be set free." First we are introduced toAlexander 'Nix' Pierce. The guy with the title"Most likely to break hearts." He's left his wild ways behind him. After receiving a small inheritance he opens up his own tattoo shopFREEFALL When he's not making art on a canvas he's looking after his frail and dementia ridden grandmother, or trying to keep his friends Dray and Clutch (Jimmy) out of trouble. Then we meet Scotlyn JamesAfter a horrific accident killed he [...]

    6. A great short read and only .88 cents! 3.5 stars "What silence?" I hear every word you write, every word you speak with your incredible face as if you'd spoken the words out a loud. You were meant to be with me, Scotlyn. Not him." It all starts when we meet Nix. He goes about his life day to day. Owns a tattoo parlour. Lives with his best friend Dray on a houseboat and is constantly worried about his Nanna who has alzheimers. He also has a photo of a pin up girl in his wallet. He has no idea why [...]

    7. 4.5 to 5. I really enjoyed this book. It was a fast read but very well written and developed. it had angst, humor, action and just the right amount of steam. Most importantly it had likeable characters!Scotlyn is a beautiful woman living a silent life since losing her family tragically. She lives under the rule of Lincoln Hammond her ?boyfriend who controls her every move thus victimizing her more. Left with a scar to remind her of her pain and past, he cannot look at it. His decision is to cove [...]

    8. This review and my opinion may be skewed because it was read as a rebound book. The last book I read was emotionally draining and dark, so this was my perfect pick-me-up.Nix is totally best-bookboyfriend-ever material. He's sweet enough to swoon for, Alpha enough to want to obey, and sexy enough to drop panties for. Then again, I have a soft spot for artists and good men with rough edges.Scotlyn is an awesome bookgirlfriend. She's smart, beautiful, reserved, passionate and caring. I love a damag [...]

    9. ★★★★Freefall by Tess Oliver (Custom Culture #1)When Nix finds the woman of his dreams She writes her way into his heart As his assistant Cassie deals with his friends

    10. Nix (oh Nix) owns a tattoo parlor and is making a name for himself. He lives on a houseboat with one of his best friends Dray(who fights in the ring and has a death wish. Not to forget his other friend Clutch (who always sells muscle cars)Nix looks after his grandmother who has Alzheimer and life is not easy but when is it? Nix found a picture of a pin up girl and has kept her in his wallet for the past year and can't stop thinking about her.Scotlyn lost her whole family in a car crash and lost [...]

    11. THREE AND A HALF TO FOUR STARS!I really liked this book. Liked the characters, liked the storyline and liked the unconventional idea of a tattoo artist and a mute falling in love. My poor heart was swamped with cutesy feels for Nix and Scotlyn, and as an added bonus, I got to roll in my feels for Nix's two best mates and their respective partners. The storyline is pretty simple and straightforward, but it's this simplicity that made it very enjoyable for me. Also, what I found very touching was [...]

    12. This was such a hard book to rate! See, I really liked the first 80%, definitely a 4-4.5 star. But the ending. It was disappointing. It was set up for action and suspense and a grand endingButButButNothing just kinda of ended, quickly and neatly. And.While I really liked the secondary characters, the entire time, I thought they were being set up for a series where each would get their own book, but again, all that suspense and everything for them also ended, quickly and neatly.I don't know, what [...]

    13. This book had a unique concept where Scotlyn was a mute. She could hear fine but after a traumatizing accident she lost her voice. Scotlyn was living on the streets when Lincoln found her and took her in. She has a large scar that ran down her side from the accident so Lincoln wanted her to get a cover up tattoo. He took her to a shop where she met Nix. I had some serious problems with this story. First of all Scotlyn was living with Lincoln living off of him but yet she was seeing Nix. Out of a [...]

    14. Was the story a tad on the cheesy side and predictable: Sure, but that being said it still maintained a lot of original attributes. Pros:* the character depth was superb, even the secondary characters had strong personalities that were relatable* it had a sweetness to it that can't be denied. I loved how the hero/heroine seemed to truly understand one another - it didn’t seem superficial* it held my interest the entire time and I didn’t want to put it away until completion* Complete story, n [...]

    15. 3.5 starsGood contemp NA romance, and I think with a little more patience and more pages to allow the characters and plot to develop could have been amazing.

    16. It was a nice story when it was Nix and Scotlyn. I liked both main characters, What I did not like is the side "romance" stories between Clutch and Taylor, and Dray and Cassie. I would have read Clutch's story if Taylor was not the heroine. Taylor is a spoiled little girl constantly seeking attention. She is a tease and came across to me as a slut. Then that last scene (view spoiler)[when she stole Clutch's Pontiac that he has been trying to sell and crashed it. She was a brat. Why would Clutch [...]

    17. I thought this book had a really neat premise. Scottlyn is mute she isn't deaf. She had a trauma in her like that has left her silent. She is living with Lincoln because he saved her from the streets. At first I thought it was a little unfair of her to take advantage of him but you quickly see who is actually using who fast. Lincoln was really cruel and hung out with unsavory characters who eventualy put Scottlyn in harms way. So she meets Nix who is doing a cover up tattoo on a scar she has. Th [...]

    18. I read this a while back, just completely forgot to include it on my GR shelves. As indicated, this was a DNF for me. I thought the writing was good, the set up with the characters intriguing (she is his unknowing muse, he is kind of obsessed by her way before she walks in his tattoo shop randomly). The romance between them was sweet. However the situation with the live in boyfriend was odd and his treatment of her did not seem consistent. Does he love her or is he using her? I felt there was an [...]

    19. This was an absorbing read. Scotlynn is a woman with a very painful past. The past has left her a prisoner in a relationship, her home and her mind; she's mute. Nix is a tattoo artist who is asked to do some work on a scar of Scotlynn's and their draw to one another is instant. This book drew me in so quickly and I couldn't put it down. I really enjoyed the twists and turns of the story. I'm off now to find another by Tess Oliver.

    20. I liked Nyx however I didn't think he lived up to his name he was voted heart-breaker in highschool and nothing really explained why he was named that besides being trouble. I feel like the book could have gone into more depth in regards to the characters or Scotlyn's time living on the street, etc.For me it was a 2.5*

    21. Meh was ok. Fade to black sex scenes.! No "I love you" declarations! And no alpha-male. I don't think I'll be reading the rest of the series.

    22. Wonderful read. Really liked it. I was captivated by the plot and really wanted to see where it would lead. I just felt that the ending was rushed. Other than that great story.

    23. 4/5 stars When i first saw this blurb, i admit i got pretty freaking excited!!! I'm a sucker for these story lines. Though I was a bit hesitant because of some of the reviews and the ratingsAs I said earlier, I was hooked on the blurb!! Nix was voted "most likely to break hearts" in high school, and apparently he was a heartbreaker (I'm not too sure on that, it wasn't really elaborated on that part). After his grandfather died, leaving him with a lot of inheritance money, he went through his fir [...]

    24. I loved this book and I read it in one sitting. I am surprised by how easily this book drew me in even though I am usually a really tough critic of contemporaries. But this book didnt have any of the things that I usually hate about the genre.Nix was a tough guy character, but he wasnt a bad person and he didnt follow any stereotypes or cliches about tattoo artist love interests. He was serious about his business, his family, and his friends. He had a past, but he was responsible and reliable an [...]

    25. So I downloaded Freefall not really expecting much from it. The synopsis had a few things that intrigued me, but together I was kind of eh on it. I like tattooed boys, the idea of the girl not talking is great, but the rest of it just was just didn't seem like it would be amazing. Unfortunately I was right and it wasn't.Freefall wasn't the worst book I have ever read or anything, but it wasn't good. The main issue? The characters. So Scotlyn hasn't spoken since the accident that took her entire [...]

    26. I read a review of this on Dear Author which was less than sparkling, they gave it a C+, but there was something about the review that caused me to read this immediately and I totally disagree about the rating.Nix is a 20-something tattoo artist who owns his own shop, takes care of his Alzheimer's stricken Nana as well as his troubled best friend, to some degree, but doesn't fall into the "too perfect" romantic hero trap. He has a kind of authenticity that's hard to pinpoint, I mean he is pretty [...]

    27. Stars: 4Overall: Scotlyn is Mute after an accident she had when she was younger. The man Lincoln she lives with decides she needs a tattoo to cover up the scar she got from the accident. There she met Nix and feel for him instantly. Nix owns a tattoo shop called Freefall and in his wallet he has a picture of a beautiful pinup woman, that he doesn't know but loves anyways. A friend of Nix's drew up a picture of Scotlyn and recommend that her and Hammond go to Freefall because Nix does great work, [...]

    28. I read the synopsis on this one and i just knew it would be fantastic. Boy did it hit a home run w/ me! If you're a hopeless romantic (like moi) this will have you melting in a puddle of romance goo. Alexander "Nix" Pierce had a past as a wild heart breaker but has since settled into a life of owning a tattooing business (so hawt), hanging with his best friends and taking care of his sick grandmother. But he hung on to a fantasy, that of a pin up's picture he kept in his wallet. And then one day [...]
