    1. A friend heard about this one on Twitter. Lots of controversy about it so I decided to take the plunge. The writing is lovely and the narrator is really compelling. The erotic parts are beautifully done and the relationship between the boy and the headmaster is compelling. Some aspects of the story I was uncomfortable with, but I have to admit it challenged some of my ideas about sexual abuse. It might be one of those stories you need to go back to a few times to let sink in.

    2. This is a scandalous, white hot fiction/ non-fiction/ memoir coming-of-age story. We never learn the name of the first person narrator. It could be you, me, or the boy next door, and that makes it really powerful and intense. Growing up in a world of chaos and abuse, our boy learns the hard way that the good things in life come with a price.
