    2. All rational is lost when the first person vanishes. I liken the beast in this book to the nothing in The Never Ending Story. There is something very unsettling behind the ideas and danger brought forth in this apocalyptic book. Lead by a teenager, six people race across the Western landscape in order to find out what the machine is and how to stop it, all the while they are hunted down by another.A fast paced must read.
