    1. Bought this in a magical book shop in Seoul. One of the best impulse book buys ever. Beautiful maps. Excellent descriptions of history. Wish there was a smaller version because it's a great survey of human history that could be required reading as it hits all the highlights, and a lot of small pieces (i.e. it marks off a month long Communist uprising in Hamburg. Most Hamburgers didn't know that happened!).

    2. As is often the case with concise histories, much detail is left out and some important detail is sadly lacking. However in conjunction with the other books on my History shelf, the Atlas is definitely worth reading.

    3. Impressive, but of course mostly that of the west in the exptent of its knowledge and point of view, and therefore highly incomplete of necessity.

    4. What a treasure. One of my favorite books. I enjoyed reading it and trying to get the maps into my head. I refer to it often, and I think every time I've looked for something in the glossary, I've found a description. And it makes a great gift. Many thanks to everyone who worked on this.

    5. In my struggle to find a good general world history book, I found this one to be pretty good. Lots of good maps and good general world history. Only problem is that it ended before the Soviet breakup. I would recommend this as a good general history book.

    6. its very good, I like the maps. I does talk alot about things that im not as intrested in eg. farming ect. But other than this its a great book if youw want maps and history

    7. wonder synopsis of where we've been it is a door that opens to so many ideas, cultures and even personal reflection!

    8. Maps! History! I'm having paroxisms of knowledge! A must for history/map fans. Maps of every period of world history, accompanied by enough text to make you expert.
