    1. Somehow, I managed to pick up this book and finish reading it but then put it right back on my "to read" bookshelf so I completely forgot how long ago I read it! So the accuracy of the dates of when I read this is quite wrong! I'll just say August 2017 since that's when I re-read and found it again! For some reason, this book did not stick with me. It was very hard to finish despite being beautifully written. I really, really wanted to like it but I wasn't hooked and I had to put it down many ti [...]

    2. I won this book in a Giveaway. Thank you !This novel is the sequel to The Liberty Flower. I did not realize this when I entered to win this book. I was able to read and understand this book without reading the first one but there were some parts of the book that I did not enjoy as much because I was lacking knowledge of what happened in the first novel. I love historical fiction books and I was really interested in this novel. The book starts with Maddie who is living in the United States and i [...]

    3. This was right up my alley from page one. Maddie is a great character. I really enjoyed her and Jack's story. The Second War Of Rebellion is a brilliant historical fiction. It was very detailed and you can tell Katie Hanrahan put a ton of research into it. I enjoyed the story concept. An American girl transplanted in England. Maddie was headstrong. She did anything she could to get what she wanted. She made a few poor choices but what girl doesn't? I loved some of the humor in the book. 4/5I rec [...]

    4. I won this book on the first reads giveaway. I enjoyed the story line though there were a couple places where the "flow" wasn't quite as clear as I like. There was quite a contrast between life in Charlestown, South Carolina where Maddie was born & raised and England where her stepfather insisted that she live. Maddie was able to "fit in" with the social set in England but her heart was in Charlestown. I would recommend it.

    5. “Yes, my dear, but what shall we do with it? What will you inherit? Anything of value, or utter disaster?”So said Sarah Mahon's father in THE LIBERTY FLOWER when she asked him what would become of the freed American colonies. The answer comes, in part, in THE SECOND WAR OF REBELLION.In this sequel to THE LIBERTY FLOWER, Sarah's daughter Madeleine is forced to go to England with her stepfather, Jack Ashford, but she does not wish to go. How is she to remain true to her family's patriot herita [...]

    6. From an ARC.(As a side note, apparently this book is the second in a series. I did not read the first book and didn't have any trouble understanding this one, so it can work as a stand alone as well.)This book could have been so much more. The potential is there: sparkling historical detail, well developed characters, passion for the time period. In fact, I would go so far as to say that Ms. Hanrahan is a genius with historical fiction; I can only imagine the hours of painstaking research that w [...]
