    1. Soup to nuts, with some excellent courses. As the title indicates this is the complete collection of all Kenneth Rexroth's poems, and it's a doorstop, over 700 pages long, minus notes, introduction, and index. It stretches from the mid-1920s, when Rexroth had made his way to San Francisco, and was just in entering his own twenties--after a life that had already taken him through the Midwest, the mountain region, Mexico, dedicated to a revolutionary politics--to the 1970s, a full half century of w [...]

    2. How can anyone read a poem for more than one page? I just don't have the concentration skills I guess. I used to, I think, I used to like The Wasteland and Love Song of J. Alfred Prufruck, and Patterson by WCW was pretty cool, but lately I've been on a poetry kick and I just can't bring myself to read a poem longer than one page. A half of page is even better.Rexroth is kind of a California sensualist and I remember my 10th grade english teacher (whose name I'm forgetting because I haven't had a [...]

    3. An anarchist and curmudgeon poet, could you ask for anything more? Not me, that's for sure. He was a Poet of All Trades, from selling anarchist newspapers at City Lights Bookstore to translating Chinese and Japanese poetry his talent shines through. He was definitely a member of the San Francisco renaissance. He was a conscientious objector during World War II and spent his time working with Japanese-Americans held in camps. He was definitely one of the original starters of the "beat generation" [...]

    4. Father of the San Fransisco Renaissance, he helped usher in the Beat Generation. He differs in his literary career as a polymath and translator of poems. He also did not sit well with the Occidental approach to Buddhism. His poems are enlightened struggles with modern life and disappearing relationships with others and the environment.

    5. Maybe my favorite current poet (although I haven't read much poetry lately). He was as talented as any poet writing in the last half-century.

    6. What's the big deal? This guy musta lived a colorful life and was known for that cuz his poems seem pretty unremarkable.
