    1. *** 3.5 Stars ***This isn't your typical romance story. For me, this was more about a struggle with yourself. To be denied of something you want so much because you think you're too damaged.Jessie is struggling with chronic depression. Her best friend and her mother is there for her, but she doesn't want their help. There were times when her emotions would make her act a bit childish. She yelled, cried, didn't sleep, and didn't eat. She needed help. She needed to get better.Boyd is a rising star [...]

    2. Heart Grow Fonder, Cristy ReyReview from Jeannie Zelos book reviews Genre: Romance, women’s Fiction. I really liked the sound of this butspite the rave reviews showing others love it I just didn’t. Tyler – everyone should have a friend like him, loyal to Jesse despite his stardom, he goes out of his way to help her and protect her again, and again, and again. Ditto her mum, who’d stayed a stalwart support over the years, just being there for Jessie when needed. Now British Actor Boyd has [...]

    3. Heart Grow Fonder is a beautifully and sensitively written love story. Jessie suffers from chronic depression and I was impressed by the way that Ms. Rey was able to portray Jessie’s character realistically – keeping her human while showing how her depression affected her life and the lives of those close to her. It seems to me that Ms. Rey has either suffered depression herself or is very close to someone who has as it is the little details about Jessie’s behaviors that demonstrate her in [...]

    4. Intense and Emotionally GrittyWow, what a read! Heart Grow Fonder kept me literally glued to my Kindle. It is an intense, heart-rending, emotionally gritty novel, which examines the consequences of celebrity life. The central story focuses on Jessie and Boyd, two people who are PERFECT for each other BUT who fate has conspired that they meet in the WRONG place and at the WRONG time.Jessie is in the depths of depression, so bad that even her long-time friend Tyler, a top celebrity, feels powerles [...]

    5. This was very different than your typical celebrity romance. Instead of a story where a dashing leading man comes in and manages to sweep his adoring fan off her feet, you have a rising star whose claim to fame is playing a somewhat sexually deviant detective on British television and the chronically depressed best friend of an American cinematic star who wants nothing more than to get the hell away from Hollywood and all that it represents. As you can see, it isn't going to be an easy road to h [...]

    6. Where to startt off I will admit I had trouble starting this one, some books grab me from the start, some disappoint me to the point where I just stop reading them, this one was somewhere in the middle, I was curious but also unsure of where it was going. That being said once I got a couple of chapters in I was hooked and those hooks dug deep I found myself not wanting to put it down. So if you start it and find yourself feeling the same way stick it out it's worth it!This is a love story but de [...]

    7. Reviewed By: Korena´*•.¸(*•.¸ ARC PROVIDED FOR MY HONEST REVIEW ¸.•*´)¸.•*´This story stars with Jessica telling her story on camera on how she met Tyler at school. Of course, it did the opposite.Boyd, an up coming British actor finds himself working with the American actor, Tyler. B [...]

    8. A beautiful, heart-rending and thought provoking story of two people who meet at the wrong time in their lives. This poignant story will tug at your heart, especially if like myself you have first hand experience of someone burdened with the daily demands life places on us. But out of despair comes light and also hope, that broken pieces will mend sufficiently to move forward in life again.Tackling a heavy duty subject like depression is never going to be easy within the realms of a romantic tal [...]

    9. This is actually quite a personal experience to me, having known someone who battled with depression before. I could still remember the time when he seemed to be falling apart that I could no longer hold him tight because he chose to slip away. So allow me to share that this book, Heart Grow Fonder, holds a dear part of me and I couldn't stop the memories and my tears while reading it.Tyler Cantrell had been living the life of the rich and famous, and he finally revealed his true nature through [...]

    10. Eleven years ago Jessie saved Tyler Cantrell from getting his ass kicked by high school jocks who were picking on him for being gay. Since then they’ve been best friends. Years later, Jessie hit rock bottom with depression, and it was Tyler’s turn to save her. Though Jessie credits Tyler for keeping her together, living in the shadow of her best friend’s celebrity isn’t all it’s cut out to be. It’s up to Jessie to figure out what she has to do to be happy.Boyd Kerrington is on his wa [...]

    11. This definitely pulls at your heart strings. Jessie is a girl who becomes friends with Tyler when she stands up for him for being gay. Since this happens they have been inseparable, completely relying on each other. Tyler is an actor and is dealing with the intensity that comes along with fame but Jessie has her own demons with depression. Boyd is a British actor who is doing a film with Tyler and becomes friends with the two. All three are faced with major life decisions and have to learn to le [...]

    12. This is the second book of the day that I've finished without being entirely sure what type of book it was. Again there's no way this could've been meant as a romance because the couple spend almost no actual time together and frankly even when they were together they were awkward and didnt really fit together. I could honestly repeat most of my review of the last bookis book was longer but just as boring. I didn't really click with this book on any level. The author did a fairly decent portraya [...]

    13. I'm always drawn to books about celebrity and the behind the scenes lifestyle, so this book immediately drew my interest. And while I liked the characters for the most part, and the author had a unique way with words (that at times, got a bit TOO verbose in my opinion) I had a hard time connecting with the story. The book alternates between Jessie, the best friend of Hollywood's new leading man who also suffers from chronic depression, and with Boyd, an up and coming English actor. Jessie and Tr [...]

    14. Cristy Rey is a one of very few writers who can truly make me “feel” while I am reading. Heart Grow Fonder was another example of her writing prowess and her ability to cripple me with the beauty and the pain that she so easily conveys in the story of Jessie and Boyd. I also have to give her mad props for her sensitivity to important issues, in this instance- mental health. Jessie has Chronic Depression and after years of being saved by her best friend she finds herself in need of saving, ag [...]

    15. *This book was provided by the publisher/author to Nerd Girl Official for an honest review.Cristy Rey is such an amazing writer. I truly enjoy her paranormal series so when the opportunity presented itself to read a dark contemporary piece revolving around the very true issue of depression, I jumped at it. She did an amazing job of making the characters come alive. Their emotions displayed as raw as they would in real life. My heart beats for them and I bite my nails anticipating their next move [...]

    17. Another awesome read from an amazing author! This is not your typical love story; it's out of the box, which I love! I will admit that it was a little slow for me in the beginning but it easily picked up and kept my attention until the very end. Now, this story battles some dark elements such as depression.I liked the different depths that each character invokes. Jessie and Tyler's relationship is magical. I loved their dynamic. It was real, emotional, intense, and true. In a way, I liked Boyd a [...]

    18. This was a very interesting read for me and an insightful view into how depression can make life very dark and difficult. The story is told in the perspectives of Jessie, a writer and sufferer of depression and Boyd, the sexy British actor, with the dashing gay Hollywood star Tyler and his boyfriend Jason weighing in. I'm not going to write a blurb in this review on the book, you can read the one written and it is better than one I could write. I can only tell you that I thought this was a very [...]

    19. I received this from the author in exchange for an honest review. Out of the thousands of books I have read in my life this is the first book I have read dealing with depression that is really bad. I mean we all have read books were a character is suffering and needs help but this book deal with a character that is quite literally broken. Jessie has to take drastic steps to change and get better. This book is about two people that face huge obstacles but still are willing to fight for a relation [...]

    20. 3-3.5 starsJessica and Tyler have been best friends since Jessica stepped in when two guys were beating up Tyler at school. Years later, Tyler is a Hollywood A-lister and Jessica lives in his shadow. He wants to take care of her so he keeps tabs on her, somewhat keeping her on a short leash. After making a video where Tyler comes out, he becomes even more popular. Which is not what he wanted.Boyd is a British actor who got a role in Tyler's new show. He sees the coming out video and notices Jessi [...]

    21. Im not really sure what to say about this book. The premise was great. A young girl who jumps into a fight to say an almost grown man from two men who are beating the crap out of him because he is gay. They become instant friends. Jessie has chronic depression and Tyler seems to enable her more than he helps her. Tyler and Jason seems to be in love but Jason cant deal with Tylers life in the spotlight, even though he himself is in the spotlight as well. Boyd comes along and he seems drawn to Jes [...]

    22. I'm having a hard time writing a review for this book. How can you do justice to this. How do you write a review that is so personal. Not only to the author, but to myself. I felt the sadness and pain ooze of the pages. The spiral of darkness that has consumed myself before, is written infront of me. Yet the growth and joy that overcomes it all shines like the moon on a dark night.I am not sure if you can tell how much I loved this tale. The characters are so real and their personalities are so [...]

    23. "Heart Grow Fonder," by Cristy Rey, is often harder to make sense of than it should be because of strange word choices and awkward sentences. The writing interrupts the flow of reading and it's very frustrating. Jessie, the main female character, suffers from severe depression, making much of the story bleak. I wouldn't categorize this book as a romance, which is the genre I found it listed under. I was disappointed in the story and felt like the author got tired of writing and just threw togeth [...]

    24. Heart Grow Fonder was definitely an intense read. The intensity had more to do with the main characters depression more than anything. Cristy Rey did a great job bring the character's emotions onto the page and I think this author handled the topic of depression quite well. The characters were well developed and the storyline kept me interested. It was nice to read a story where the characters are going through real problems, that normal people might face on a daily basis. Will be looking for mo [...]

    25. This was a great story about two people that are lost but for different reasons. You have Jessie who is surround by fame but isnt famous but she has a serious problem that she needs to deal with . Then there is Boyd who is an upcoming star but doesnt know what he wants. Watch as they both learn to together and heal together.

    26. I received copy of this book for honest review by the author. This was a very interesting reading for me and how insightful view into how depression can make life very dark and difficult live with left untreated

    27. Riveting and had me crying for some time. Jessie's life is messed up, good thing Tyler is by her side. And Boyd, oh Mr. Kerrington, you might just be what every woman needs! A definite must read!
