I mean, if one lets go of thoughts like "how is the cavegirl transported to today but knows cavegirl things" and "how have all the town adults just let her keep living in a cave?" then this is quite enjoyable. I think children will be able to do that, but as an adult, I just kept thinking the premise was implausible.

    3. I wasn't quite sure what to make of this book with its cave-dwelling character and her urban friend. Part of my problem was trying to figure out how someone could live in a cave near a city street without having the authorities intervene, and part of my problem was trying to figure out why Kabungo was living as she was. As ten-year-old Beverly tries to teach her the ABCs by using a picture book and introduces her to holidays and social traditions, though, I had to smile at the struggles of both [...]

    4. Read the Starred Reviews in Kirkus and other spots, and it's definitely as good as the hype. Even better! My son got more enjoyment out of this than any book we've read together in ages.
