    1. I received this book from Bethan House in exchange for an honest review. I found this was a pretty great read for me. When I read Christian fiction I find most of it to be pretty unbelievable with unrelatable characters and that is because they make the characters unbelievable so I tend to stick to those Christian fiction books that are more good vs. evil with a lot of action and excitement. Well I decided to check this one out and it did not steer me wrong this time. SynopsisLillian Porter has [...]

    2. Beyond the Silence was a very compelling story full of sadness, danger, rumors, gossip, hope, and romance. I couldn’t help but read this one quickly as I continually wanted to know what was happening next. The authors did a great job of expressing the emotions that the characters were feeling in a very realistic way. The attraction between Lillian and Woody was also very well written. I felt sorry for Jimmy and all of the trauma he had seen, as well as the fear he felt. Of course, I was a bit f [...]

    3. Tracie Peterson and Kimberley Woodhouse have successfully teamed up to pen an intriguing, heartwarming read about a young woman who travels to the lush, rolling hills of California seeking to fulfill her dreams and finds much more than she bargains for—a chance at love and life threatening danger stalking her every move.Lillian Porter's dream of going west has finally come to fruition as she defies her grandfather and accepts the position of a nanny in Angels Camp, California. But as dark and [...]

    4. Lillian Porter longs to fulfill her mother's dream of going west. When she learns of a nanny position in Angels Camp, California, she jumps at the chance to go. Yet upon her arrival, Lillian learns that there are rumors flying around town about her employer, Woodward Colton, a local olive farmer. According to the gossip, he murdered his wife. Lillian tries not to listen to the rumors, especially after meeting Woody's son, her new charge. Jimmy hasn't spoken since the day he witnessed his mother' [...]

    5. Reviewed at The Power of Words: bit/1m5cq8oI am impressed with this collaboration between Tracie Peterson and Kimberley Woodhouse. I’ve read several novels by Tracie and enjoy her style. Kimberly is known for her excellent suspense, and while I don’t read a lot of this genre, I wanted to try this book because of the authors. Rich in characterization, setting, suspense and plot, the combined skill set that Tracie and Kimberly bring to the table makes this a very entertaining and compelling re [...]

    6. This is the second collaboration of the Peterson and Woodhouse duo, and it is even better than the first. I am not sure if Tracie Peterson normally writes suspense novels, but Kimberly Woodhouse does and does very well. Thus, I knew this would be a good read; but it surpassed my expectations. The book is set in the late 1890's, which is not the normal setting for the suspense novels that I typically read, but it works fine for the story. The story revolves around Lillian Porter who is a nanny fo [...]

    7. I enjoy a good historical. And I love a good mystery. Beyond the Silence gives readers the best of both with a dose of added romance. Lillian wants to do something that matters, and when she accepts a job as a nanny, her grandfather disowns her. There's no coming back. When her train finally takes her all the way to California, she is confronted with information that her new employer may not be who he seems. All she knows for sure is that there is a little boy who desperately needs her and she f [...]

    8. About the BookLillian Porter has always wanted to fulfill her mother's dream of going west, so when she hears about a nanny position in Angels Camp, California, she defies her grandfather and takes a chance on a new future. But she quickly wonders if she made the right choice. There are rumors in town that her new employer, Woodward Colton, caused the death of his wife. This accusation doesn't match the man Lillian comes to know--and Mrs. Goodman, Woody's long-time housekeeper, is decisively on [...]

    9. This story opens on such a sad note with a heinous crime of murder in front of a six year old, who becomes so traumatized that he never talks again. Who would do such an evil thing, and then to make things worse, if possible, Jimmy’s dad Woody is accused of killing his wife.Enter Lillian Porter whom as the book opens has made a decision that is about to affect every ones life, she is going to go west and take a job as a nanny. Now Lillian has grown up sheltered and with a silver spoon type of [...]

    10. I have no idea what the title brings to your mind as you read it. I thought it might be something beyond the grave, but really was not expecting the level of suspense that the authors Tracie and Kimberley brought to this historical fiction novel. I truly disappeared into the story and was lost in it for the two days it took me to read it! Many times as I read with bated breath to find out what would happen next I had to remind myself this IS a novel, it is fiction, and I am not in the middle of [...]

    13. Lillian Porter accepted a job as a nanny to a boy who has mutism and no longer speaks due to the murder of his mother, in Angels Camp in California. She decided to leave her home with her grandfather in hopes of pursuing a new life as she no longer wants to be a prisoner in her own home. Her grandfather disowns her after this "hasty" decision, but the staff still very much loves her and keeps connected with her as she moves on with her new life. Woody Colton, the father of little Jimmy, is compl [...]

    14. This story opened with a bang. From the first paragraph, it was hard to put down. I have found out, that when these two authors write a story together, that is how their books will be. The story takes you through so many places and lets you see it from several different eyes, it keeps you turning the pages. Right off the bat, I felt so bad for Jimmy Colton, the little boy in the story. You can't blame him for not talking after enduring what he has. His family is strong, I will say. Lillian I tho [...]

    15. I absolutely love author Tracie Peterson. This time she has partnered with Kimberly Woodhouse to write a fantastic story about a young woman who leaves her home in search of a new life. It poses the question, how many women could actually leave everything behind and go into the unknown. Lillian decides to go out west and become a nanny. Everyone starts to think that her employer actually killed his wife. Is she the only one that believes her didn't do it? Is anyone going to help her? Is she fall [...]

    16. BEYOND THE SILENCE starts with a bang and doesn't let up all the way through the book. Colton's wife is brutally murdered and everyone believes Colton did it. His son has not spoken a word since the day his mama died. And Colton is shunned by his own town. Virtually run out when he dares go to the store for supplies. But the real murderer is still free and will stop at nothing to get what he's after.Somewhat predictable, Lillian is almost too perfect, but Colton was real and my heart hurt for hi [...]

    17. Tracie Peterson and Kimberley Woodhouse have written a book will bring you to tears. A book that captures your heart and takes you on a very emotional roller coaster ride all the way through and doesn’t let it go until the very end of the book. I shouted, cried right along with these characters. There is so much love, anger, hate, love, understanding, determination and faith in this story. You never knew what to expect next. If you love suspense, romance and faith then you will surly love this [...]

    18. First let me say, I have never been disappointed in any book that Tracie Peterson either wrote or co-wrote. This book was no exception. A young boy witnesses the brutal murder of his beautiful Momma. The murderer threatened him to "never say a word ". Jimmy took those words to heart and spoke not a word at all. That is until his father, Woody, hired a nanny. (Lillian) Lillian seemed to bring out the best in Jimmy. He gained weighteven began to laugh out loud, a sound that was music to his father [...]

    20. Thank you Litfuse for this review book.Rumors and gossip have destroyed more friendships, more careers, and more lives than I'd like to think. Fear and suspicion have destroyed even more. In the small town of Angels Camp, in the old west mining days in California, rumors, gossip, fear, and suspicion surround Woody Colton. In need of a nanny for his mute son, he advertises then invites Lillian Porter to join his household for little Jimmy. It's all on the up and up. The housekeeper is a motherly [...]

The Prologue sets the stage for the meaning of the “silence” of a dear little boy. 22. A wonderful Christian novel. Yes, it is a love story but it so much more than that. In this book, we see both the evil and good of people. It is not all rose-colored, though. The evil does have its day. It is a book of love & acceptance of people different than we are. It is a story of having the courage to admit one's wrong and seek forgiveness no matter how hard that is. Although I suspected the ultimate outcome, there were enough detours to keep the reader very interested. Sad to see the [...]

    23. Lillian heads west to become a nanny, much to the dismay of her grandfather. She enters into a household that was disrupted by a tragic crime and now must try to help a mute little boy. The author deals graciously with several topics, including adults who gossip and condemn without reason, others who are cruel to a mentally-challenged young man, and still another who commits crimes without remorse. This novel is well-written with an interesting plot and well-developed charcters.

    24. Tracie Peterson is one of my go-to authors. In Beyond the Silence, her partnership with Kimberley Woodhouse raised my standards of her books. Beyond the Silence is a wonderful story about Lillian Porter, a young woman who fights to break through the ignorance and net of privilege and safety her grandfather has imposed on her. Lillian is a great character, although I think she handled things a little too well, a little too smoothly, all things considered. She gets angry, but she never really exhi [...]

    25. Beyond The Silence by Tracie Peterson and Kimberley Woodhouse is a Christian romantic thriller set in the fictional town of Angels Falls in the 1890's. Some books take a while to get into - not this one, I was hooked from the very first page.Jimmy witnesses his mother's murder and fears to speak again after being threatened by the murderer. His father Woody is arrested but then released as there is no evidence against him.The novel opens two years later as Lillian has accepted a job as Jimmy's n [...]

    26. 2016 is starting off on a great note with some incredible novels and Beyond the Silence by Tracie Peterson and Kimberley Woodhouse is no exception. Being a huge fan of western romances since I was a young teen, I've loved every single novel of Tracie Peterson's I can get my hands on, because she takes me back to another time period to lose myself in a virtual world of a great western romance with a strong and determined female character like Lillian Porter. Growing up in a life of well means has [...]
