    1. Before anything else, allow me to fangirl first and ask Stacy Reid a question through this review. Were you Lisa Kleypas's apprentice? Because her writing and yours have the same impact to my heart. You are a historical romance genius!Alright, on to my review. :)The Royal Conquest seriously made me miss reading historical romance because I consider this genre my first love. In this book, I experienced such overwhelming feelings and love because Stacy Reid's way of writing offers flawless romance [...]

    2. I am very excited for this book to be in readers hands! After Sins of a Duke I received several messages from wonderful readers asking for Marcus and Charlotte's book. Excited I dived in, but Payton's story kept tugging at me. So I paused Char's book and churned out Mikhail and Payton's journey, and it is here!I think this is my first book where there is a little bit of me in my heroine and hero. There is a scene where Payton got caught in a compromising situation, and I modelled this very scene [...]

    3. I DESERVE A MEDAL FOR LISTENING TO THAT!I've given this a D- for narration and a D for content at AudioGals.I’m not exaggerating when I tell you that Stacy Reid’s The Royal Conquest is far and away the front runner for the title of “Worst Audiobook I Have Listened to This Year”. I’ve listened to mediocre stories performed by excellent narrators and excellent stories ruined by poor narrators, but this one has it all – a mediocre story performed by an inept narrator. It rarely gets [...]

    4. 4.5 stars ***ARC kindly provided byEntangled Publishing, LLC and Netgalley for the exchange of an honest review*** This was a really beautiful story!!!! I really loved it!!!!! The plot moves fast and there are no surprises on the way. The writing is really amazing!!!! Ms. Reid gave me so many feelings and she actually took my breathe away!! I even had tears in my eyes a couple of times and my heartbeat was going crazy!!!The story of Payton and Mikhail is so beautiful and so honest! Actually this [...]

    5. For more reviews, please follow my blog:alysenovakI thought The Royal Conquest had a lot of potential, but it just fell flat for me. Boy hides out from society and their judgements. Girl was jilted by fiancee and is judged by society. Boy and girl meet, drama drama drama, fall in love. Potential, but where it fell flat for me were the actual characters. I thought Payton was very fast to judge others, especially when that was her problem with "society". I thought she WAS the hypocrite throughout [...]

    6. Another wonderful, emotional, sexy, romantic read by Stacy Reid. She never disappoints and has officially become one of those authors who I don't even need to read the blurb to see what the book is about. It's an auto-buy because her name is on the cover. And The Royal Conquest, book 4 in the Scandalous House of Calydon proves why. Payton Peppiwell is Phillipa's, from The Irresistible Miss Peppiwell, sister. Side note: If you haven't read The Irresistible Miss Peppiwell, why not?? You're missing [...]

    7. I couldn't put down The Royal Conquest. This story is fast paced and interesting.Miss Payton Peppiwell and American Heiress is at the house party of the Duke of Calydon. Payton is not a conventional female of the haute ton. She has been jilted by Lord Jensen St. John and of course the Ton blames her and now she is surrounded with scandal and treated like a piranha!! She goes out to the stables in the middle of the night and meets whom she thinks is a servant of Sebastian the Duke of Calydon. She [...]

    8. I'm pretty sure my new favorite name for a heroine is Miss Payton Myrtle Peppiwell. Seriously, try to say that 5 times and not smile. I have not read the other books with intertwining characters, but had no problem following along. In fact, I'm looking forward to catching up with those. Stacy Reid created a bright and lovely heroine (how can you not be with a name like that) and a brooding and sympathetic hero. You know it's going to happen, but you're on the edge of your seat for the climax/rev [...]

    9. I loooove this boook . It was so achingly beautiful with such emotion that it had me so far gone . The storytelling was fabulous with the author allowing me to understand the characters and why they are how they are . I honestly did not have any complaints with the main characters , they were just right enough to be everything I like in my hero or heroine. The last few pages were so sweet and beautifully done that it almost made me cry , the freedom and love that these two feel for each other is [...]

    10. This novel grabbed my attention within the first few pages and didn't let go - good thing too, because "The Royal Conquest" is A Seriously Wild Ride! The Hero is extremely intense and secretive with a mysterious past that makes him quite a Dark character. The Heroine is an American making her way through London's Haute Monde Season. She is rather jaded because her former fiancé has caused her to have a cloud of scandal hovering over her - nothing of her own making. She has decided that she does [...]

    11. A steamy, combustible read, but the mutual respect between the characters stood out for this reader. Even though Mikhail hid his titles, the feelings and respect of what each wanted/needed excelled. Payton and Mikhail were two enchanting, even mesmarising characters to read about from start to finish. This story was thorough in detail and had perfectly written characters and scenes from one chapter to the next.A wonderful story with its share of scandalous trysts, shocks and frocks. Mikhail was [...]

    12. I’ve started to wonder, when every historical heroine we read is not a proper lady… were there any left who were?In The Royal Conquest we meet Ms. Payton an American girl in England, with a sister married into high society and that, after being jilted by a Lord, is totally set on not marrying a titled gent, much to the displeasure of her parents.Prince Alexander, the Count of Montgomery and Duke of Avondale is currently incognito at his cousin the Duke of Calydon’s house, escaping from ye [...]

    13. Just finished The Royal Conquest by Stacy Reid and trust me you don't want to miss this historical romance!

    14. I received this book for free from the Publisher at NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review. What a magical book! I love romantic historical fiction, but this book took it to a new level for me.I loved watching Payton's journey and seeing her character develop. She's such a lovable character. I was actually quite shocked (though, really, I shouldn't have been) that she was snubbed because of her love of writing and illust [...]

    15. In a twist to the normal way of things in a historical romance, this delightful yet emotional story features a heroine who wishes she could marry anyone OTHER than a titled man, after a disastrous broken engagement that ended with her being shunned by the peerage. Now at a house party where her family is determined to find another man with a title for her to marry, Payton catches the attention of Mikhail in the stables, a man who outwardly appears to be exactly what she's looking for (and who he [...]

    16. OMG OMG THIS BOOK WAS FUCKING AMAZEBALLS!Stacy Reid is officially in my top favourite authors of historical romances. This story is filled with passion, pain and letting bygones be bygones.OUR HERO:He is a Russian Prince who just inherited a dukedom, wanting to hideaway from the ton for awhile. Haunted by his past where he has been kidnapped and subjected to rape has left him disgusted by the touch of others, even lovers. Thus he is intrigued when he meets our heroine who stirred his well control [...]

    17. This is book 4 in the Scandalous House of Calydon. After being jilted by a lord, Miss Payton Peppiwell is determined to marry someone that is NOT of the peerage. Unfortunately her family has other plans. But during a house party, she meets Mikhail Konstantinovich, a man that has no title and leads an ordinary life. Payton can't believe the attraction she feels for the man and she soon gives in to her passions.Mikhail is hiding several big secrets, one of which is the fact that not only is he a me [...]

    18. This is book four in the "Scandalous House of Calydon". I have read book one "The Duke's Shotgun Wedding" but I have not read the other books yet in the series (which I am trying to do so now). So for me this was a stand alone book. I didn't feel that I had missed anything by not reading the books in order. This is my second book also by this author, Stacy Reid. I must say that I am so glad to have found her I loved this book! This is a hot love scene book, with some emotional issue in the story [...]

    19. Mikhail Konstantinovich, Russian prince and titled noble, has left Russian society along with rumors and gossip to keep a low profile in London society. His plan to keep a low profile served him well in terms of wooing Payton Peppiwell, but also had its consequences. Payton, once burned by a noble of society, has no intentions of becoming enamored with someone of the peerage. Mikhail is playing a tricky hand and must get Payton to fall in love with him before she discovers his real identity. I l [...]

    20. Another great addition to the Scandalous House of Calydon series. Now I am dying for Marcus and Charlotte's book. Mikhail and Payton were really great together. The banter between them at their initial meeting was witty and provocative, and grabbed my interest and refused to let me go. I read The Royal Conquest in one sitting because it was such a fun and intriguing story. The only thing I blinked at was that they fell in love so quickly, but what made it even more fascinating was that I believe [...]

    21. Stacy Reid's Calydon series just gets better with each book. The hero is Calydon's cousin Mikhail, a Russian prince and British Duke who is hiding out at Sherring Cross before having to take up his English title. While there, he meets American Miss Payton Peppiwell who has no idea he is titled and prefers him that way. She has no interest in her mother's plan for her to wed a lord.Mikhail has problems being touched after an earlier kidnapping. He loves Payton, but she doesn't want to marry a lor [...]

    22. Payton was engaged to a titled gentleman but he broke off their engagement, now she wants a simple man to marry. Mikhail is Russian royalty hiding out at a friend's stable pretending to be a simple man. They meet in the dead of night, when Mikhail rescues Payton from a fall. There is instant attraction between them. The two lovers want to be together but Mikhail's secret and everyone conspires to keep them apart. I got tiered of past paramours showing up trying to ruin the barely there relations [...]

    23. I received this from Netgalley/ Entangled publishing in exchange for an honest review. This is book 4 in the Calydon series. This was a great read. I really enjoyed it. This was about a man that lies about who he is and a woman that wants to get away from an oppressive family. Her family was truly horrible to her I just think Payton needed to stand up for herself. I am glad she finally does at the end but anyway this is a great story. I just wanted more from Mikhail he was kind of a Jerk. Other [...]

    24. Very enjoyable. I have always enjoyed books with hidden identity and tortured heroes so this was just perfect. A quick interesting story. Thanks to Netgallery and Entangled Publishing, LLC for the advanced reader's copy

    25. This is the fourth book in the Scandalous House of Calydon series and it's an intense historical romance tackling all the big issues like a person wanting to be loved for who they are rather than what titles may adjoin their name. I thoroughly enjoyed it. The Duke's Shotgun Wedding: 4 starsThe Irresistible Miss Peppiwell: 4- starsSins of a Duke: 4 starsThe Royal Conquest: 5 starsThe young American Heiress Miss Payton Myrtle Peppiwell, younger sister of Phillipa who married Anthony, swore her hus [...]
