    1. This would be the perfect gift for a new mother. The book is full of letters to mothers from mothers. The letters provide encouragement and advice for things that mothers will face.I am a mother to a soon to be 10 year old and a soon to be 13 year old (a teenager!) so I was excited to pick this up and glean some inspiration from it.The letters are great (some better than others) but, for the most part, tend to be directed towards new mothers and mothers of young children. I can’t say that I wa [...]

    2. This could have been a very cheesy and frustrating booke most things aimed at new mothers are (so is almost anything with a Christian theme). But it was beautiful. Real and raw and realistic, and because of all that hopeful and encouraging. I loved it.

    3. It seems that lots of people, whether they have children or not, are more than willing to give moms advice. It is very well meaning but it is often lacking in grace and can make the mom feel like she’s failed rather than being an encouragement to her. This book is the exact opposite of that. This is a book written to moms by moms. It doesn’t give much advice in terms of how to do this or that. Rather it is focused on encouragement. It reminds us that we are not alone. Other moms are struggli [...]

    4. This precious and felt book The Mother Letters published by Revell was born for an intuition and a decision of these two writers, Seth and Amber Haines.Seth Haines and his wife Amber had had in just three years three children and Amber stayed at home all the time for taking care of their three babies. Just of course, it wasn't simple at all and not everyday a joke or a sunny postcard of perfection, you know. Three babies can give a lot of work and stress. So Seth Haines for Christmas 2008 decided [...]

    5. With Mother's Day swiftly approaching, it is the perfect time to pause and reflect on the women who characterize the word "Mother" for each of us. As a tangible symbol of some of the many facets that mothers everywhere represent, a delightful little gift book has been published by Revell, and written/compiled by Amber C. Haines and Seth Haines, just in time for the special day. Looking like a little handmade scrapbook, the content of "The Mother Letters: Sharing the Laughter, Joy, Struggles, and [...]

    6. Looking back at human history all around the world, we see that wise people have always understood the power of a spoken blessing. When goodness is called out and a good name is bestowed, that is a powerful part of growth and transformation. Today, we need these moments of invocation more than ever. When life is hard, we need to hear what God made us to be. When all we can see is trouble, we need to hear about the hidden treasures. This book, "The Mother Letters" is a sweet ray of sunlight, a sp [...]

    7. "Each day brings its own small delights." - Katie (106)Mothers. The most challenging and the most rewarding role to be in. What mothers endure and what mothers do can only be understood by others who are in the same shoes. I read The Mother Letters by Amber C. Haines & Seth Haines, not as a mother, but as a daughter, and I'm humbled by the simple grace and love from these letters. When I first heard about this book, it was shared that Seth collected many mother letters to gift to Amber while [...]

    8. Mothering. There is surely no task as difficult, as frustrating, and as challenging as that of being a mom. There is also not task which will bring more joyous, as filled with love, and rewarding. In the midst of temper tantrums and laundry piles, every mom needs to know her struggle is not unique to her. We need to be reminded we can experience the mighty resurrection power in our lives (Philippians 3:10) in the normal days and in the messiest ones of our lives. When we are depleted, may we hear H [...]

    9. Borrowed Strength for MothersEncouragement; reassurance; words of wisdom crafted in the trenches.Somehow, Seth Haines knew that this was the gift his wife needed for the Christmas following the birth of their third child -- so he put out the word. Friends, favorite authors, and bloggers were asked for a contribution of hope, a letter from the heart of a mother. The response far exceeded Seth's expectations, and he was able to present to his wife, Amber C. Haines, a collection of stories: joyful [...]

    10. Letters for mothers, by mothers. First time mothers, experienced mothers, mothers who have lost children, adoptive mothers, step mothers and more. They each write a letter to you, mothers, encouraging you, applauding you, letting you know they are in the trenches with you.Whether the letter written by Sarah Bessey, that reminds us that yes, we are mothers, but we are also people. 12. Several years ago Seth watched his wife as she fell exhausted in to bed each night after a day of taking care of three boys under the age of 3. He knew she needed some encouragement. And that is how this book came to be. Seth encouraged friends and family to write a letter to Amber offering advice and encouragement. The book has since been expanded to include letters from mothers all over the country. It begins with a letter from Seth explaining how the book came to be. There is then an introduc [...]

    13. The Mother Letters began as a gift from a husband for his wife. Seth Haines noticed that his wife, Amber, was overwhelmed as the mother of three boys. So, he decided to collect letters of advice and encouragement from mothers around the world. The gift was so meaningful to Amber that she and her husband decided to compile many of the letters into a book for moms everywhere. As a new mother, I was expecting to really love this book and to be moved by the words inside. It was one of the few books I [...]

    14. This book started as a simple request from author Seth Haines to writers and friends from all walks of motherhood to write "Dear Mother" letters of encouragement and motherhood lessons to give to his wife Amber who at the time was in the trenches of mothering their three (now four) young boys. The request resulted in over 600 letters that since have been culled and compiled into a lovely book of encouragement, wisdom, and reminders that mothers are in this together.I enjoyed reading this book, g [...]

    15. I am well beyond mothering infants and children, but dang it, I wish I had this book when I was in the throes of rearing children! This is the book that needs to make an appearance at every baby shower, at every new birth, at every adoption. This is the book that should be on every parent's book shelf. The very first letter in the book instructs mothers to give themselves grace. What a freeing, motivating, inspiring, and fulfilling thought. I look back on my children's early years and I wish I h [...]

    16. What does it mean to be a mother? Constant worry, fear, stress- yes? But you carry on all these emotions while having a full, endless loving, cautious and protective heart. You can read all the books and scholarly articles but at the end of the day, trust your instincts and ask for help along the way. It's true that women are prideful but the lifelong journey of motherhood is a tough one, do not pass judgement but instead seek to offer help and pick each other up. Being a mother doesn't necessar [...]

    17. I think it is the first time that I have ever read the preface of a book so many times. I wanted to cry. It’s just so beautiful. The heart behind this book… I mean, it’s just wow. This book is about hope and finding beauty in the midst of chaos. Motherhood is hard, but there’s also so much beauty in it. I think every mother should read this book. It is written in the hopes that it will give you strength and a new perspective in the joy that motherhood can give you. This book made me cry, s [...]

    18. This book was absolutely lovely. I love the fact that Mr. Haines created it for his wife and that she expanded it into this book. Motherhood, especially first-time motherhood, can be a lonely thing to experience. In many ways, the Internet & "mom groups" can make this better, but it can also make it worse if you are constantly comparing yourself to other moms or comparing your baby to other babies. These letters talked about many different experiences, and I found them quite interesting. Som [...]

    19. I read “The Mother Letters” in one sitting and was reminded mothering matters and we aren’t in this life alone. That’s the message of this collection of stories. Moms get each other, and these words from strangers echo many things I’ve experienced in my own life. There’s laughter and hurt and joy and play dates and seasons and tears and siblings and waiting and peace and purpose and crazy days. And there are tales of raising little people while developing your own community along the [...]

    20. This is the book that every mother should have! It is such a little book full of great encouragement! When your little ones are young and you are wondering if you'll ever get rested again. When you've not handled a situation right or feel like a failure as a mother, this book is going to encourage you! I loved all the different authors and their different perspectives about motherhood, however, one thing was consistent. They all encouraged us to be the best mother to our children we can be but al [...]

    21. Having never been a mother, but a caregiver, I found this book to be incredibly thought provoking, honest and authentic about the struggles that mothers face. If I were a mother, this book would make me feel less alone because it shows the ups and downs of the motherhood that people don't talk about in a real honest way, which I can appreciate. I love the collection of letters from "The Mother Letters" because it gives this look into motherhood about things that no one tells you about. It's a ra [...]

    22. The Mother Letters is a beautiful book written with honesty and insight. A variety of moms contributed to Steve's efforts to bring together a lovely compilation of instruction, compassion, and wisdom. I wish I'd had a book like this when I was a young mother. Many of the moms talk about feeling discouraged and maybe not being the best mom. Yet each mom's words, in the end, are encouraging and uplifting. A wisdom I noticed repeated through the book— we learn so much from our children. I can att [...]

    24. The Mother Letters is a sweet collection of letters to mothers. I found the letters collected to be a wonderful mix of advice, truth, grace, and a celebration of all the different ways in which we mother and the different perspectives we have on mothering. Each letter was a reminder that we are not in this alone, we are in fact in this together, and though we may not know one another, we understand each others burdens, celebrations and each little moment in between better than we realize. The re [...]

    25. The Mother Letters is a beautiful compilation of letters from all sorts of mom. I smiled, nodded, and cried a little too. 26. I received this book for free from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.4.5 stars. I'm not a mom (yet), but I still enjoyed this book immensely. Seth & Amber Haines have compiled a beautiful collection of letters by moms, to moms that even someone without children like me can appreciate. I plan to keep it on my backburner for when (Lord-willing) I have little ones of my own. This is my new go-to book for baby showers. I would have given it a full 5 stars, but some of it seemed repetiti [...]

    27. This book is so genius that it makes you think : " why didn't I think about that?" I am not a mother yet, so reading this book made me feel one step ahead! There is nothing to object to the personal opinion of all this mothers! But having this book is like knowing that if other got through it I will too! As a teacher I realize that they do a hard job and some days I have to skip the bad news and just tell them what a great job they did rising their children! A great book that encourages mothers [...]

    28. What a breath of fresh air! It's the opposite of the social media judging, mom bashing world we live in. It's moms being real with each other and building one another up. We have hard days, and we have victories, but at the end of the day, we are all in a similar boat. Let's pray for one another and continue encouragement like this.
