    2. I finished this book about statecraft on the Fourth of July. And I did it purposely on that date. Read the book. Memorize its principles. I've read The Prince by Macchiavelli and Discourses on Livy. If ever a man got a disreputable name for reputable beliefs, it is poor Niccolo. Viroli goes through his master's ideas about leaders and talks about how those ideas would transport to today. They would. The distinction between a leader who wants glory or vainglory is particularly interesting. Vaingl [...]

    3. Machiavelli reconsidered from the perspective of the coming US elections, focused on the perspective on the citizens of the democratic republic. An interesting lecture, using examples from the American presidential history.Disclaimer: I was offered the book via NetGalley in exchange of an honnest review.

    4. Certainly interesting and good for inspiring discussion/comment. However, some of that inspiration will come from rather simple conclusions, and ones which do not take into account certain realities of US politics. But, interesting and of value.
