    1. Blue Boat is about a rescue boat that happens to be, well, blue. The story within its pages is that the boat is off to save a family that is stuck out in the water and a super dangerous, scary storm in coming in.There really isn't much more to the story than that. I would say the majority of this story is in the artwork which is fun and bright. It is entertaining enough, but as a parent, I would like a bit more to the story than was actually there. The nice thing though is that not only does this [...]

    2. I love that this is available in both hardcover picture book and board book. Minimal text, but, paired with this illustrations, this is actually a rather exciting story about a rescue mission. Will easily appeal to very little readers who love boats and slightly older little readers who will recognize and enjoy the drama of the story.

    3. Fantastic illustrations, and a story that has rhyming and excitement that will captivate any little boy or girl. Bonus is that Blue Boat's captain is a woman. My daughter loves Blue Boat! Exciting, fun story.

    4. This review also appears on my blog, Read-at-Home Mom.We received two copies of Blue Boat - the full-length picture book (9780451471413) and the abridged-by-one-page board book (9781101998533). This ended up being a perfect arrangement, as Bo Peep could hold the board book while Miss Muffet and I read the picture book uninterrupted. I liked the book initially for the artwork, and because it reminded me somewhat of Sail Away by Donald Crews. I've read the book aloud a few times now, too, and thou [...]

    5. Rhyming text introduces new vocabulary words like "surge" and "churn." Sparse text and illustrations give the story of rescuing a sailboat. I do have a concern that so many boats try to come to the rescue, including another sailboat - which would not sail into a storm! And, the tow rope seems to grow from one page to another. Great to have a lady captain!Bright colors and various boats perfect for little sailers.

    6. I guess it's kind of a Little Toot for the modern day kids of low intelligence. Everything about this - text and illustrations - pales in comparison. There is no art to it. It looks and sounds very cookie-cutter. It makes no demands on the reader, and at the end it provides no satisfaction.

    7. Blue boat is a rescue boat that heads out to rescue a family stuck on their sailboat with a storm heading their way. A simple, rhyming book. Colorful artwork. Good for little ones that like boats.

    8. I really liked this book, and then I saw it was a companion to Red Truck and recalled how much I liked that one two. Simple, cute pictures and for the boat fanaticsFUN! How come I have never ead Yellow Copterat will have to be remedied!!
