    1. The King James Version of the Bible is an excellent translation. I enjoyed reading it from this book immensely. It was nice to read a KJV with Gustave Dore's illustrations (I would say that his illustrations are of varying quality--I didn't like the ones in the New Testament nearly as much as his illustrations in Genesis, which are amazing).I also enjoyed that this book was not a "red-letter" bible.

I tend to gravitate to books with illustrations and anything illustrated by Gustave Dore.  I have a copy of Dante's The Divine Comedy that is almost 100 years old that is illustrated by Gustave Dore.This book is beautifully done by Barnes and Nobles which is leather bound and is simply gorgeous.  The font size was a bit too small for me to comfortably read without glasses and often found myself having to pause to give my eyes a break.   There are over 200 illustrations by Dore and here are a [...]
