    1. The tittle is an atrocity, a lie, an insult to soccer and its fans. My friends would classify this as a 2 shits book, as in the time it would take someone to read it. Stay away from it. I wish Mandis would have been a soccer fan, this way the wouldn't have been brainwashed by Florentino and his fantasy lesson on values. Good insider information from the business stand point, however I doubt half of it is true and unbiased as they claim to be. The word transparency is used quite a lot like if Flo [...]

    2. As a disclaimer, I vehemently despise Real Madrid. This author was in love with everything Real Madrid. I'll be the first to tell you that Real Madrid has set up a beautiful system that has brought them extreme success. However, the author creates this picture that they are a morally superior team who invests in players that are only going to be on their best behavior and always represent the club well. As I read that in the book, I considered their roster over the past few years, and thought of [...]

    3. This book is an essential guide to Real Madrid world. The strong point of the book is the fact that the author uses comparative perspective when he discusses football (soccer) and compares it with American team sports. Also, usage of data is a very good idea when the author explained various aspects in the book. The weak point of the book is the fact that the author had discussed too much about Perez. I recommend this book to everybody who wants to know more about Real Madrid C.F European footba [...]

    4. The book gives you a look at Real Madrid from the business side. It focuses mainly on the presidency of Florentino Perez and how they turned a club deeply in debt into a global brand. It should be noted that while you get a great deal of insight, the book might as well have been written by Florentino Perez himself. It glosses over a lot of his poor decisions and the book ends with the author praising the hire of Rafa Benitez (he turned out to be a disaster).

    5. This book is an in-depth look at Real Madrid, the esteemed professional soccer franchise. Real Madrid is viewed through the eyes of an American. Author Steven Mandis is a business professor at Columbia University. Though he is writing about a European team, he clearly is trying to write to an American audience, using American terminology and always translating currencies into US dollars.I am not a soccer fan, and this book would be enjoyed more by a soccer fan. Much of this book is about the his [...]

    6. This book will certainly rank quite high among comprehensive looks at professional sports franchises, and the author benefited from tremendous access from Real Madrid (already a relatively transparent organization, as it's publicly held by thousands of fans/shareholders). My biggest quibble is that we rarely get inside the heads of the men at the top of the organization. And while it's written many that shared "values" are a big part of the organization's success, I'm still a bit hazy on the exa [...]

    7. At times and in certain chapters this book feels like a propaganda for Perez and looks to take a completely business driven approach for a sporting team for which I believe, the sporting commitment should be top priority. However, it does give great insights into working of a sports team and the team that I follow. Loved reading thru it and getting into the details of history and management of my favorite sports club.
