    1. A good beginners guide to exploring the serial killer phenomenon. Touching on many of the more prolific killers and their crimes, this book avoids being overly graphic or the use of jargon making it easy for readers new to true crime. The chapters are short although do feature much of the more well known aspects of the crimes. I would have liked to have seen more detail and perhaps further explanation into abnormal psychology, however the author acknowledges this book to not be exhaustive of the [...]

    2. Very interesting!!I have read several books about serial killers and found Clutches of Madness to be well written, easy to read, interesting and informative! Although I have read many articles by Deividas, this was the first book that I have read and I was not disappointed! The book talks about "nature vs nurture", profiling and how some of these serial killers are caught. It delves into the mind (or madness) of some famous serial killers. The book also includes several graphic photographs!

The book discusses what defines a serial killer, nature versus nurture, how and whom they kill, profiling, along with how they get away and how they get caught. In Clutches of Madness: The Real Faces of Serial Killers a number of the high profile and most well-known serial killers are covered, providing detail on their crimes and their states of mind.A book which brings together the psychological theory of criminal profiling with numerous examples from serial killers themselves, it is an interesting and informa [...]

    5. Good read about what makes serial killers tickWe hear about serial killers in the news, we read about them in books, we see them portrayed in movies, but what are they all about? What makes them kill? How do they choose their victims? What are your chances of being targeted by a serial killer? This book provides some insight into what factors might influence a person to kill and kill again. There is a section on psychological profiling and what kind of information is used to profile a criminal. [...]

    6. A well researched and competently written expose on some of the world's most notorious serial killers. The writing is informative and articulate, but unimaginative. Perhaps the author feared making the story of these all-too-real monsters too lurid, but it would have been a more enjoyable read had the prose conveyed more of a stroke of genius.Review first published on
