    1. Review previously published at If These Books Could TalkI was really fortunate to get a copy of Stefan Mohamed’s Bitter Sixteen last year, and by lucky, I mean “Holy Moly. What have I just read?” lucky. The exploits of Stanly (no ‘E’) Bird and his talking Beagle Daryl had me buzzing from page one. Here was a YA Sc-Fi novel that not only played with expectations, it practically kicked them out of the park. Knowingly reverential to it’s influences, funny, and, for a sci-fi novel, groun [...]

    2. Ace of Spiders, by Stefan Mohamed, is the second book in a planned YA fantasy trilogy which began with Bitter Sixteen. Since I read that first book last month I have been eagerly waiting for this installment. It did not disappoint. The protagonist, Stanly Bird, is now eighteen years old. With his powe [...]

The supporting cast is strong, but it's Stanly that r [...]

Oh my does he get some! Old enemies mix with new enemies mix with Stanly’s own shortcomings and frustrations to create an explosive mix of plot twists and revelations that had me gasping in shock, or running to hide behind the sofa.I reluctantly read the last few chapters, not wanting [...]
