    1. 4 1/2 stars that actually did get rounded up because this was just. this was outstanding. there is so much that was done here and I am screaming at how subversive Romy’s character arc isREVIEW TO COME!!

    2. This review can also be found on my blog, Dana and the Books If you're going to read only one book in September, make it The Loneliest Girl in the Universe. I was one of the lucky space troopers who managed to buy an early release copy at YALC back in July. I kept seeing announcements throughout the weekend that it had sold out and were scrambling to find more. When I finally arrived on Sunday, the first thing I did was make a beeline for the Waterstones booth to pick up my gorgeous copy.I love [...]

    3. HAHA. you think you can tell what this book is about from the blurb? no, no. the blurb of this book reminds me of Deadpool's marketing. you know the Deadpool movie poster where it makes it look like a fluffy romantic comedy and then you get in the cinema and there are people being brutally murdered, limbs being hacked off, etc. you're gonna go into this book thinking you're gonna read one thing and then it's gonna tear you, and itself, apart. just like romy gets torn apart. wait what

    4. My advice Know as little about this book as you can before reading it!! Some very jumbled thoughts:It started off feeling highly illogical and then I somehow forgot that this messed up logic was annoying me *shrugs shoulders*So I got caught up COMPLETELY in the storyline and well *PHOOOF* any capabilities of thinking like a normal human being I had went out the window. *waves bye bye to my brain*I got increasingly more paranoid as Gabby will testify to as she was witness to all manner of ridicul [...]

    6. PSA: this amazing book exists, do yourself a favor and read it."Love take so much energy, and it just leads to pain. I think it's probably best for people to be self-sufficient. If I was strong enough to be independent, then I wouldn't be so desperately lonely. I'm sure of it."This book was cruel. Like the MC, I was led to believe that this is just a sappy space romance. But here's the thing: the blurb was nothing but a self-effacing description of this book and its true purpose was to tear your [...]

    7. My favourite Lauren James book yet! She masters all the plot twists and the slow release of information and revelations so you never know who you can trust (just like Romy!) It felt like a very classic psychological thriller set in space while also being completely unpredictable. The setting was so atmospheric and the way the novel progresses is absolutely amazing. As soon as things started to go wrong, I couldn't put the book down. With such a beautiful cover, and a fantastic duology behind her [...]

    8. I was so excited to get this book, it was one of my most anticipated upcoming releases for this month, and it did not disappoint.I found the beginning a little slow, like maybe the first 50-75 pages. It’s really well written though! The format is so interesting, it goes from like kind of first person descriptions of Romy’s life, and also emails, audio messages etc. It slowly feeds in more information over the book, and I loved that, it added such a sense of mystery. It was quite different to [...]

    9. Nope. Just nope. I think I'm being generous with the 2 star rating, but the book got slightly interesting towards the end, but I still didn't care for it. I didn't care for one aspect of this book. *sigh*

    10. Even though The Loneliest Girl in the Universe isn't out until September, I had to pick it up because people wouldn't stop talking about it. I'm rubbish at resisting hype and I just had to see what magic Lauren James created this time.I love a good space story and The Loneliest Girl in the Universe made me realise how much more YA sci-fi I need to discover. I obviously do not read/watch enough because I had to engage Lauren in a lengthy conversation about how time works. *facepalm* (Thank you [...]

    11. I read The Loneliest Girl in one sitting, and had an absolute blast! I feel like the marketing is half the magic, because it sets up your expectations so well, that you can only be surprised by the story! Lauren's writing is so entertaining and she handled having (practically) just one character soooo well. I loved how the suspense built, and the ending was really satisfying. It's definitely my favourite of her books so far!

    12. The summary for this book doesn't really prepare you for what is in reality a neat psychological thriller. As others have said, this is a book best read blind, and is the perfect way to fill a rainy day or a chilly night.

    13. 4.5*After being intrigued by friends’ reviews, I just had to read this book. Well, I started and didn’t stop to the end! This is one hell of a really good psychological thriller. You don’t notice it but little by little, the tension builds and you cannot help but get more and more on the edge of your seat! I am seriously impressed. As many have said, read it ‘blind’ to get the full effect ;0)

    14. The Loneliest Girl in the Universe is in turns terrifying, with the pitch black coldness of travelling alone in a twenty-year-old space ship that isn't what it used to be, has its ghosts, and is the only thing stopping you from freezing, suffocating, or both; and cutesy and upbeat with the most unconventional kind of blossoming puppy-love you could imagine. These things might sound like they don't belong together, but Lauren James weaves them beautifully for a story unlike anything you've read b [...]

    15. I don't even know what to make of this book. It just really fell flat for me. I have been putting off reading this one for a while and now I really regret even reading it.

    16. I received an Advance Reader Copy from the publisher. This in no way impacted on my view.Pretty much since YALC, I heard this book spoken about on twitter, all the time. So when I was offered the chance to review the book, I jumped at it, because everything I'd heard was great - nothing negative at all. The day it arrived, I immediately started it, and didn't stop reading until I was finished. Now, that may make it seem like I loved the book, but, unfortunately, I did not, but we'll get to that [...]

    17. How long until I’ll be able to see The Eternity? How long until it will be able to see me?Romy Silvers is farther from another human being than anyone in this universe. Or at least she thinks so. After unfortunate and gruesome set of incidents she's the only passenger — and thus the captain — left on The Infinity, the ship destined to bring hundreds of embrions on Earth II. With every day moving farther from Earth messages from Molly — her only friend and at the same time a counselor — [...]

    18. HOLY WOW, BATMAN. This is not just one of the best YA novels I've read all year, but one of the best thrillers for any age. It's REALLY good, so tense I couldn't put it down and with a kicker of a payoff. I'm going to be shouting very loudly about this to anyone who'll listen - Lauren has done something very special! 12+*Please note: this review is meant as a recommendation only. Please do not use it in any marketing material, online or in print, without asking permission from me first. Thank yo [...]

    19. I don't know what I expected - other than something excellent, of course - but my goodness, I was shocked again and again. I'm rating it 5*, when tbh it deserves its own little galaxy. Lauren is a genius, I cannot even comprehend her magnificent author/scientist brain.

    20. this was my first space book & everything was done perfectly in this book. the loneliness of the mc living alone on infinity, the tragedy that happened with her. the mystery of j. her yearning as teenage girl. the weight of responsibilities on her. her fears & haunts. at the end it was down right creepy with j. & i am glad that her issues were resolved towards the end.

    21. OMG, this was so amazing! And so not what I was expectingI loved being back in space. I just love books set in space. I've always been interested in planets, galaxies, stars <3Meet Romy Silvers, the loneliest girl in the universe. She's alone on the spaceshipThe Infinity . She's young and has been born on the spaceship, never been on Earth, but on her way to Earth II. Her parents and all the other astronauts died on the spaceship, and she's been alone ever since, being the commander of the In [...]

    22. Hi, book community. Quick question: Why are we sleeping on this book? Because guess what, it’s awesome. I mean, it didn’t quite break me out of my no-favorites slump, but it came the closest that anything has in awhile. I’ve read a lot of reviews that describe it as “unexpected”, and I agree wholly. It’s different than I assumed, but in a good way! U.S. people, it comes out here in July or some such nonsense, but you can always buy it from Book Depository like I did. Plus the cover i [...]

    23. Review also on my blogTwitterBookstagramThis book was such a great read! I'm a huge fan of sci-fi like this but I never read enough of it. Romy was such an endearing and strong character. She has been on her own since the age of 11 and was able to not only take care of herself, but an entire spaceship! She was nothing short of a genius. She was also alone without any human contact for two years (as it takes two years for messages between the ship and NASA to transmit). She was an emotionally s [...]

    24. Rating varying between 3 and 3.5, but I think this is worth reading. Very YA :)"There’s rosemary, that’s for remembrance [of the dead]" -Shakespeare (Romy is a pet form of name Rosemary)(view spoiler)[Online dating: in Space! (hide spoiler)]Romy Silvers has manned her spaceship, Infinity, alone since 11 after everyone died ((view spoiler)[or as in her mother's case, put herself in stasis (hide spoiler)]. It has left her with fear of darkness, the sick bay and astronaut-nightmares. Now she is [...]

    25. A captivating story about a teenager driving a space ship. Obsessed with a tvshow and writing fan fiction. This was my first Lauren James book and definitely it won't be my last one. 'The loneliest girl in the Universe' is a page turners sci-fi story full of twists. Romy Silvers has been born on space. Her parents were astronauts. When Romy's parents died during an accident she was left alone in the endless space and she became captain of the space ship and keep following the mission. Romy spent [...]

    26. Well that was awesome. And not at all what I was expecting. If you are going to read this I recommend going in knowing as little as possible about it.

    27. This was not what I expected? Not even in the slightest and it was SO good. A one girl mission to stay alive in space! I thought I was in for acute quick romance but instead I was thrown into a space thriller with GREAT Mental Illness and counselling rep. I honestly loved the main character and was rooting for her from the get go. The plot never got boring and there was often a sense of doom. If you liked Illuminae, or thrillers. You NEED to check this out. THE LONELIEST GIRL IN THE UNIVERSE REL [...]
