  1. An entertaining story of a street child in Victorian London. Most importantly it's written in Victorian times by an author who spent a lot of his life helping poor. The author likes to use "spoken language," e.g. intentionally misspelled to emphasize the accent, which can make it terse for some readers. The book touches on lives of poor families, street life, Irish immigrants, workhouses.
