    1. When picking up Death by Chocolate Cherry Cheesecake by Sarah Graves I was under the impression that this was an all new cozy mystery series and with that highly appetizing cheesecake on the cover I knew I needed to read it. But once starting to read the book I found that the “First in a new series” is a bit misleading with this one.Sarah Graves has written the Home Repair is Homicide series which consists of sixteen books and what she has done is taken the characters from that particular se [...]

    2. I give this book 4.5 out of 5 Delicious Stars! The reason I picked up this book is because I love a good cozy and the author sounded rather familiar! I must also admit to myself, that I chose this title due to that yummy looking cover! I mean doesn't this book scream YUUMmmm! After re-reading the premise and starting the story I realized that I have read a few of Sarah Graves' previous titles in her Home Repair is Homicide series which I loved! I will jump in here and say the main reason I gave [...]

    3. Dollycas’s ThoughtsSarah Graves ended her Home Repair is Homicide Mysteries back in 2013. To her fans delight, she has brought the characters back in this new Death by Chocolate Mystery series. Jake and Ellie have opened up a bake shop on the waterfront and the town of Eastport still has a murder problem and this murder happens right in their business, The Chocolate Moose. Matt Muldoon has been after them since they opened with one complaint after another, even saying he would report them to h [...]

    6. In this first book of the series we are re-introduced to characters from a previous series that the author has written. I liked the change because I got to visit with old friends but life has changed up a bit for them which brought a freshness to everything. Jake has finally finished with all the renovations on her home and is looking for something new to sink her teeth into. Enter her best friend Ellie, together they decided to open up The Chocolate Moose, a bake shop filled with lots of chocol [...]

    7. This is the first in Sarah Graves' new Death by Chocolate Mystery series. Jake (Jacobia) and Ellie are friends who decided to open a bakery together in a small town in Maine. I enjoyed both characters, but I went into this book not knowing that it and the characters were a spin off from another series by this author. Having said that, once I found that out it made sense why I felt like I was missing something with these characters. They had a backstory that was already established and at time I [...]

    9. What a whirlwind of a mystery! I definitely never saw the solution coming, lots of clever plot twists and schemes too as well as murder. Jacobia better known as Jake, owns a specialty bakery with her friend Ellie. Imagine her surprise at finding a dead guy in her shop with his face planted in melted chocolate, chocolate that had been melted to use on the dozens of chocolate cherry cheesecakes she and Ellie had promised the 4th of July fireworks committee for their annual auction. All fingers poi [...]

    10. Sarah Graves' latest mystery, Death by Chocolate Cherry Cheesecake, marks the return of Jacobia (Jake) Tiptree from the Home Repair is Homicide mysteries. 11. An entertaining first in series cozy! I did not read this author's previous series with the same characters but I wasn't too lost since the author did a good job of giving the reader background information. A well plotted mystery with several twists and turns that had me guessing until the end. I enjoyed reading this book and it made me want to go back to the author's previous series.

    12. I'm a fan of Sarah Graves' other two series, so I was excited to get the opportunity to read & review an advance copy of this first-in-series. Many of the characters in this book - including main character Jake and her best friend Ellie - and the setting of Eastport, Maine are carried over from Ms. Graves' Home Repair is Homicide mysteries. It was great going back to visit Eastport and its characters, now with Jake and Ellie running their own bakery specializing in high-quality chocolate tre [...]

    15. While this is the first in the Death by Chocolate mystery series, it is a continuation of the Home Repair is Homicide mystery series. "Jake" and her friend Ellie have opened up a bakery called "The Chocolate Moose," full of chocolate goodies. With her husband and son both away from home, Jake has plenty of time to focus on the bakery. However, when a health inspector meets a grisly (and delicious" end in their kitchen, Jake and Ellie suddenly have more on the plate than chocolate cherry cheeseca [...]

    17. I have an embarrassing confession to make. I began reading Sarah Graves' Home Repair is Homicide cozy series, enjoyed it a lot, but didn't keep up with the books. Shame on me, but I am trying to make amends by starting afresh with her Death by Chocolate series. I don't know if you all are aware of it, but there's a group of very talented mystery writers in Maine, and Sarah Graves is one of them. Her series is set in Eastport, Maine, which is a real place on an island within spitting distance of [...]

    18. Death by Chocolate Cherry Cheesecake by Sarah Graves is the 1st book in A Death by Chocolate Mystery series, and I loved it. Jake and Ellie have opened up a bakery, but Blake,a retired health inspector, keeps harassing and threatening them that he will get them shut down. 19. Jake and Ellie have found themselves submerged in a murder mystery filled with deadly intent and circumstances, it’s a story laced with the right amount of facets which makes this book an explosive package. Yes, the suspense in this book is exciting and gripping, the thrill factor is just right, with an awesome storyline and captivating characters making this book a must-read. I enjoyed this cozy mystery with its amped-up action play and all, it’s cool, truly an enjoyable read.

    20. Jake and Ellie have decided to open a waterfront bake shop and hope to do really well over the 4th of July weekend. Than a bad storm blows in and Jake’s son is missing and her husband is stuck on a cargo ship. The local health inspector is found murdered, he had been on their case constantly so Ellie is the first person they look at. This book wasn’t as good as I hoped.

    21. This book is being marketed as the first in a series, which it is, sort of, but not really. Confused? So was I. When I started reading, I kept stumbling across references to past events that happened between the group of characters in this story. I stopped reading, did some checking, and found that this is the first book in this particular series, but the characters are from a previous series by this author. Consequently, the relationships are all established, so there isn't a lot of character d [...]

    23. ARC provided by the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.Let’s start this off by talking about three things that I really love; cozy mysteries, baking and moose. So if you’re giving me a mystery that features a bakery called The Chocolate Moose it’s gonna take a lot for me to dislike it, and luckily this one did not disappoint. The story features our main characters Jake and Ellie, owners of the wonderfully named bakery, solving a murder and dealing with a hurricane all [...]

    24. Review was originally posted onThe Writer's Inkwell"Death by Chocolate Cherry Cheesecake" is the first book in the Death by Chocolate Mystery series, but it is not the first book featuring Jake and Ellie. In some ways, this book can be a standalone. However, there are several mentions of previous books/events from the previous series, A Home Repair is Homicide. These brief moments leave the reader a bit confused or curious because it doesn’t explain well enough. But the moments are brief and t [...]

    25. This is an ARC, received via a giveaway. The story begins with the tale of a MEAN (not girl but….) MAN!On the small island community of Eastport, Maine, best friends Jacobia, known as Jake and Ellie have opened a waterfront bake shop named The Chocolate Moose. The duo has been asked to make Chocolate Cherry Cheesecakes for an annual raffle to help pay for the town’s July 4th firework display. 26. Jacobia “Jake” Tiptree co-owns The Chocolate Moose in the small waterfront town of Eastport, Maine with her best friend, Ellie White. They are busy making a dozen chocolate cherry cheesecakes to be auctioned off by the Coast Guard to pay for the town’s Fourth of July fireworks. Jake gets an early morning call from her business neighbour Miss Halligan that the door to her shop was ajar and finds the dead body of nosy Matt Muldoon. Police chief Bob Arnold thinks Ellie is the prime suspect an [...]

    27. Princess Fuzzypants here:It has got to be challenging coming up with something new and exciting when writing a cozy. So many are set in similar places with food or drink connections. The fact that so many of them are entertaining is a nod to the skills and creativity of the authors. So, when one is nail-biting, edge of the chair exciting, it is a real treat.I did not expect this one to fit that description but I was wrong. I found myself turning the pages and being quite perturbed when something [...]

    28. If the phrase “chocolate cherry cheesecake” is enticing, then you will love the cozy mystery Death by Chocolate Cherry Cheesecake. In the tiny island village of Eastport, Maine, bakers and best friends Ellie and Jake (Jacobia) fill The Chocolate Moose with delectable and aromatic chocolate goodies. Their biggest baking challenge is preparing 22 cheesecakes to be auctioned off to pay for the Coast Guard’s firework extravaganza which also includes a treat for the town’s special education s [...]

    29. Even if you have never read any of the previous mysteries involving Jacobia "Jake" Tiptree, you will enjoy this one. Jake and her long time friend, Ellie have made a big change in their lives by opening a chocolate themed bakery they have named The Chocolate Moose. Ellie is a master baker and she is eager to get noticed by as many caterers as possible. They agree to make a dozen chocolate cherry cheesecakes. Things don't go as planned and, once again, Jake and Ellie are mixed up in a murder inve [...]

    30. This is a non-starter series for me. Apparently, the first book in the new “Death by Chocolate Mystery” series is a takeoff from the author’s prior “Home Repair is Homicide” series and unless you have read them, which I have not, you too will be confused by references to past incidents in the life of Jacobia Tiptree.Jacobia, Jake to her friends, and Ellie White have opened a bakeshop in Eastport, Maine. With the upcoming 4th of July festivities, the two ladies have promised an unrealis [...]
