    1. I can’t remember the last time I read a book in a day, picking it up at every opportunity but The Last Summer captured me. Loved the writing, loved the characters, loved the story. A must read!!!

    2. Thank you Brandy for sending me a copy of your book in exchange for an honest review! This book was such a great summer read, coming in at just over 220 pages, I was able to finish this up while hanging out at the pool.  It was a really cute story and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it.  Romance, friendships, and Texas heat made this a quick easy read perfect for any contemporary romance fans! The story was so fun!  I immediately loved the friendships within this book.  I often wished I had this [...]

    3. 4.5 stars This book, y’all. It undid me.It took me back to my circle of friends from my 20s, to the ups and downs and everything-in-betweens. These characters are so real to me. I could easily identify with them, despite how long it’s been since I was their age, and Sara and Luke in particular hit me in all the feels.I’m not afraid to admit that I cried. But I smiled A LOT too and even chuckled on a few occasions. Brandy Bruce’s writing style and subsequently Sara’s narrative voice are [...]

    4. I finished this book last night with tears in my eyes! It's so beautiful and it feels so real. I love the "group". I've often dreamed of having a loving group of friends who stay together and support each other throughout marriages and life changes. That part of the story might not have been the most realistic part but isn't that why we love to read?! ❤️So we can dream and let our imaginations go places we've never been in real life!? The characters in the group of friends are fun and relata [...]

    5. When twenty-four years old Sara Witherspoon walks into the singles class at Christ Community Church for the first time, she doesn’t expect to meet 6 people: Addison, Debra, Lily, Sam, Jason and Luke, who will become her friends, or even more than that - a family. Years go by as the group stays inseparable, sharing each others’ joys and sorrows. Luke becomes Sara’s best friend, but since the moment she laid her eyes on him, she knew she wants more than friendship from him. And then comes th [...]

    6. The Last Summer by Brandy Bruce – Friendship and Romance Collide on Sandy BeachesSilence has become normal for Sara Witherspoon. She’s familiar with the dips and change of its non-committal aptitude. Since her return to Texas, Sara’s group of friends (seven, all of whom she met through church) has been Sara’s “safe place.” As they’ve all changed and emerged in their chosen career fields, they’ve remained tightly knit.Their group begins to come apart at the seams when two of their [...]

    7. Oh my goodness! This is an emotional roller coaster with all of the feels! Highly recommended. Full review coming soon.Update: Brandy Bruce’s The Last Summer is a must read for all women. It’s a coming of age story about friendships, relationships, and adapting to change no matter how hard it gets. Life can be tough and messy, but when we learn to trust God, we can see that He will get us through it even if it doesn’t look like things will ever get better. The characters and situations spe [...]

    8. I don’t often read romance—I’m more of a women’s fiction fan—but I thoroughly enjoyed this sweet story. I thought it would be a light summer read, but the author brought tears to my eyes by chapter three. There was a depth of emotion that kept me turning pages. The Texas setting was lovely. The relationships were a tangle, which made for interesting moments and great tension. Brandy Bruce made the reader a part of this group of friends, and I found myself invested in their lives and th [...]

    9. Never have I ever—or rarely—related to a modern day heroine so much. With a friend group reminiscent of classic twenty-something sitcoms, realistic growing pains and season changes, Ms. Bruce has crafted an impeccable tale. One that is indeed part coming of age, but more than anything—finding out that God's will is the sweetest place to be.The characters will feel as if they're your friends too—that's how vivid the author wrote them into Sara's story—and oh, the Texas. Much as I hate h [...]

    10. I had no idea what to expect having never read Brandy Bruce before this novel. I’ll certainly be digging into her other books now though. The book swiftly painted a group of clearly defined characters - not easy when there’s a bit of an ensemble cast of supporting people. I found myself excited to go and “hang out” with them each night. I relived the agony of unrequited love and watching your best friend date the love of your life and was suddenly 17 again. I found the way the main chara [...]

    11. Well, ya'll Summer is coming to a close. I know, I know. It's only the second week of August, you say, but this month will fly by before we know it! And next we'll be bustin' out the scarves, pumpkins, leaves, and cider. I have to admit, I am very anxious for fall as it is my favorite season, but I was grateful to get in one last summery read for this current season. My final summer contemporary was an uplifting and sweet story that followed Sara Witherspoon and her 6 closest friends as they navi [...]

    12. If I was moving into a new city and search for a group of new friends, the characters in this book would be it. I felt like part of their circle just from reading the book. They were friendly, looked out for each, funny, and most importantly, Godly. Think a Christian version of Friends. It is a group like this that I am always praying my daughter will have one day. These friends really made the story for me. Just a close knit bunch that put others first and were always around to listen and offer [...]

    13. See full review at: joyofreadingweb.wordpressI picked up ‘The Last Summer’ with memories of my own early 20’s floating thru my memory. Brandy’s writing is so smooth and seamless that I easily inserted myself right into the circle of friends as if they were my own. By chapter 3 I found my heart clenching in heartache and in chapter 4 my poor battered heart was flattened; I paused there to come up for air (okay, so my lunch break was over and I had to go back to work – isn’t that a cru [...]

    14. This book gets points for leaving me with no clue what was going to happen next. I'm not sure what pre-conceived notions I went into the book with, but they were all dumped down the drain as I read on. I was actually pretty impressed with that, although I didn't exactly like how everything worked out. I don't know if I'm losing my edge with predicting books, or if it's just that I don't read many from this genre, but the author succeeded in surprising me. Overall it was a quick, easy read for me [...]

    15. Brandy Bruce's book The Last Summer is the perfect beach read. It is light and funny with a dose of tears, pain, and laughter. I know that probably does not sound like a great book to read this summer, but the characters within this text are true to life. Bruce captures the heartbeat of each individual throughout the difficulties of growing up--singleness, marriage, break-ups, and children. This book touches so many topics that many people will have faced during their younger years. Did you ever [...]

    16. This is the first book by Brandy Bruce that I have read. I've heard such great things about this book from other readers, reviewers, and bloggers that I couldn't miss the opportunity to read it. It was a worthwhile inspirational contemporary romance set in Houston, Texas. The book is told through Sara's first person point of view, which isn't my favorite narrative. However, it works well in the book to carry the plot. The dialogue is genuine, heartfelt, and wonderful. The book is well-written and [...]

    17. Sara Witherspoon and six of her friends have formed a unique, tight-knit friendship that’s closer than family. Sara feels closest to Luke- he’s not only her best friend but has held her heart since the day they met completely unbeknownst to him. Big changes are on the horizon for this group of friends, however, in the span of one short summer. While Sara is thrilled that one of the friends in the group gets engaged, she is crushed when Luke begins dating one of the other girls in the group. [...]

    18. The Last Summer by Brandy Bruce is a charming contemporary Christian novel about love, friends and life. I adored it.Everyone needs friends to get them through life. Friends that love and support you always. "In our circle of friends, my business was only an illusion." We all need friends who know us intimately. Life is a journey, seasons come and seasons go. Some friendships last, some move on. The novel explores this theme. The book is also about plans. We all make plans for our lives. Sometime [...]

    19. SO MUCH LOVE for The Last Summer!!! Oh, guys, I seriously LOVED this sweet story! *crushes book to chest in an alarmingly enthusiastic hug*Twenty-something's ~ This is a book you NEED to read! It is so relatable. I understood all the heartache and strain and forgiveness and grace because that was my journey to the alter. Everybody else ~ You all need to read this book because once again, it is so relatable! Who among us hasn't experienced these emotions and trials? Even now, we have good chapter [...]

    20. I’m known to love pretty much every book I read. Not because I want to write a positive review, but because I genuinely love the stories I read and there are SO many talented authors out there. Now when I come across a story that I fall severely in love with, I have to let everyone know! This book was one of them. I. Could. Not. Put. It. Down. The flow of the story was fantastic, and the characters were so relatable. It was raw, it was real, it was painful, and it was full of so much emotion. [...]

    21. This was a wonderful summery read with the just right amount of romance and took me through a lot of emotions. I have either experienced every scenario in this book or known someone close who did. It is Christian fiction so deals with some of the church related aspects to relationships and a group of wonderful people who experience that together. I find that it sometimes can affect relationships in a good and a bad way so I related a lot to this! Even if you haven't been in that world it's still [...]

    22. When I read the description of this book, I was expecting a light, fluffy summer read. Although the book had some fun friendship moments and sweet romantic moments, it was deeper than I expected. I felt Sara’s pain as she navigated heartbreak and changing friendships. I experienced her frustration and confusion. My favorite thing, though, was how Brandy Bruce reminds us that life doesn’t necessarily work out exactly like we planned (in a nice perfectly wrapped package with a bow on top) and [...]

    23. Oh my heart! I can't even begin to express my feelings about this book! I loved it so much! I think a big part of why I did, though, was because I related with the main character, Sara (coincidence? I think not!), on such a personal level. At least when it came to her personality. I currently don't have a love interest like she did, but I would have done a lot of the same things she did in her circumstances. All of the characters were amazing. They felt like one big family and I loved it. They w [...]

    24. I absolutely adored this book. At first, it feels like a lighthearted, fun, escapist read; but pretty quickly I realized that nope, this book had some depth. Some meat. It was an emotional read that made me think and challenged me but at the same time entertained and kept me reading as fast as I absolutely could. This book, to me, has everything, and I definitely think this one's going on my rereading shelf. I'll be watching for other Brandy Bruce books for sure!

    25. Adored. This is my first book by this author and it won't be my last. I absolutely adored The Last Summer. The characters were flawlessly written. The storyline lofts you up, breaks your heart and puts it all back together again. The Last Summer will forever be high at the top of my recommendations list.

    26. Loved this book!!! I became attached to the characters like they were my tribe. I celebrated with them, cried with them and prayed with them. This story is a true reflection of the ups and downs that life carries.

    27. Great bookI really enjoyed this book. It was so good and moving. I hurt so much for Sara. It was a hard book to put down. I didn't care for the Texas y'all comments though. Too many of them.

    28. This was such a true to life story that had a lot of depth and truth, and so well written. I was invested in this story from start to finish. Loved it! A must read for fans of clean romance or inspirational fiction!!!!
