    1. This is a touching story of true events that happened to a family in the south. It's interesting to see all the things they went through, and the tough times they endured. For some people, it's hard to believe there are people out there this cruel, but for most of us, we've had to experience ourselves. It's told through the eyes of the child, in an innocent tone, about the harassment of a neighbor, and a family struggling to get through it with as much grace as possible. You'll find yourself roo [...]

    2. Oksana Leslie wrote her new book in a very unusual manner, through the eyes of a childIt's not a trivial task to narrate the story from the kid's point of view, even if the kid is your own son, and describe this world with all its events, troubles and hopes as it would be seen by a tween, but Oksana did a great jobSo, meet Max, his family, his friends and, unfortunately, his psychopath-neighborsChildren are different, their perspective depends on the surroundings in which they are raised, the pe [...]

    3. Inspiring book!An immigrant family faces prejudice and hostility in their neighborhood and school. They stick together as a family and actually grow closer through a time of uncertainty and intimidation. They learn important lessons and persevere with grace and humor. While I don’t believe in “the universe,” I understand the playful spirit of the author. Problems will come: Don’t take yourself too seriously. This is a story of working hard and working smart to earn a living. This family [...]

    4. This book is written in the voice of a 5th grade student through his diary. An accounting of discord with a family and their foreign neighbors. The conflict affects the kids, the neighborhood, the kids schools. Interesting how various persons took and decided on whom they would believe and how they would react. Noteworthy in the fact that as the family stuck together, using all their good morals and judgements, it made them closer and stronger than they were when the story opened. I enjoyed the [...]

    5. Not for a childI really wanted to like this book. I struggled to understand why the story was told from the perspective of a child. A child wouldn't understand or care about the drama going on between adult friends.

    6. Growing up in the area where this book takes place helped me understand this unique story. I read this book in one day.

    7. i tried to read the whole book but I found it was something that didn't hold my interest for very long.i really don't know why the title is diary of a witchs son,it just doesn't match the story.i will try to reread the book at a later date to see if it gets any better further into the book.
