    1. I read an article about Virology in a Nature a few years back and immediately wanted to know more. After brief research I came across this book and it was recommended to the semi-literate laymen. Got the book and while it does assume a good deal of knowledge of basic biology (cell structure, DNA structure, etc), it is very informative with respect to what it claims. While mostly a struggle for someone not in the field, I still recommend it.

    2. This is a fantastic virology textbook. I used it for part of a pathogenesis class. It covers a variety of infectious agents, both common and exotic. The manner in which the pathogens operate are explained very clearly. I am a very visual person and was very impressed by the images used to explain how the viruses enter and replicate within the target cells. I highly recommend it

    3. I've read about half of this book. This textbook is very concise which is nice and each chapter has a very helpful outline at the beginning. It's a good introductory virology textbook.
