    1. Howard's style makes this an easy read. Unfortunately it's not a particularly interesting story, but set during a very interesting moment of the Napoleonic wars. The character of Lausard isn't as compelling as Bernard Cornwell's Sharpe, and the Sharpe adventures are far more layered, but although Howard seems to know his stuff, Cornwell's novels are more descriptive. Just a pity that he didn't pick a more interesting story.
